Re: A Shameless Plug

Hey shinesteak, congrats on launching a new site! It looks like it could grow to be a great community, but at the moment, I think the noisy design might hold you back. If there are any cleaner, simpler forum themes you can go with, I think you'll get more uptake on the site.

Re: How did you think of your blog name?

My blog is called Passive Income Author, because I write content that I hope will help authors earn passive income from their books. Not very creative, but I think it works OK :).

My favorite blog name in that vein is DailyBlogTips. It's a blog that posts daily tips about blogging. Go figure! ;)

Re: Blogger Question

Hi Aimee, you can definitely add a link to your new blog in your sidebar. This looks like it could be a useful tutorial: http://www.blogger-book.com/2006/11/how ... debar.html

Re: Feedback wanted on my new blog, Passive Income Author

Thanks for the kind words Mira! It always saddens me when people want to write full-time but can't do so because their books don't pay the bills. If my advice can help someone take the leap and make a living from writing, then all the work is worth it. I've just added a new post on something I feel ...

Re: Feedback wanted on my new blog, Passive Income Author

Hey Ryan, thanks so much for taking the time to read, it's really encouraging. I'll be writing a more in-depth post on email newsletters soon, so I'll link to it here in case it's useful for you and others. I'm reading John Locke's self publishing book and he puts a huge emphasis on his 'Guaranteed ...

Feedback wanted on my new blog, Passive Income Author

Hey guys - I have recently started Passive Income Author , a blog covering the business side of being a self-published author. I'm hoping to get some feedback on which topics need more coverage in the community, and what you think of my articles so far. I've written: 5 Clever Tactics to Get More eBo...

Re: Enlisting the services of an editor

Be careful about hiring friends and colleagues. Though it feels easier because you can see them face to face, it doesn't always end well! Unless you are a huge fan of the editor's work, I would consider looking online for editor recommendations from reputable authors. If they agree to work with you,...

80% for the publisher - yikes! After Bilbury's cut, what's left for the author? 10%?

Re: E-book ISBNs: BISG releases crazy recommendations

Hey Ryan - I must admit, I disagree. Forcing self-published authors to trample through pointless bureaucracy is not going to raise the standard of self-published books. I agree that there are some poor quality books out there, but I don't think oppressive rules around ISBN numbers will solve that pr...
