Re: Question about manuscript readers

Tameson, atleast he's reading your work. My husband is not a reader. Knowing this, I asked him once if he would ever read one of my novels and he responded, "I'll just watch it when the movie comes out." I couldn't help but be flattered that he was so sure I'd be that successful.

Re: chapter question.

I'm still learning, the craft and about my writing style, but recently I discovered I prefer to writer shorter chapters. It's just my style. The novels in my personal library, varying in genre, have a wide ranged of chapter lengths. The book I'm reading now has no chapters in it at all. Do what work...

Re: Me time, shme time

I can relate to this on so many levels. My husband doesn't complain when I'm on the computer but he and my daughter still need to eat and we just like to spend the short hours of the evening together. So, I take the few hours I find throughout the day, for example I get home from work two hours befo...

Re: Juggling

I do consider writing ME time since it's what I enjoy and find it relaxing. I purposely schedule long breaks between classes and sit at the library on my laptop writing. When I do have a day off, I take my daughter to school then sit at the computer most of the morning while everything is still quie...

Re: POLL: Where do you buy your books?

I i'm looking for something that is fairly recent I'll pick it up at Target or Walmart. Otherwise I have to drive thirty miles out of the way to Barnes and Nobel, but the selection is worth it.

Re: How do you write?

I write in sequence, but the first draft acts as an outline. When I'm start rewriting I know my characters inside and out and the story takes a life of its own. But still in sequence.

The holidays have come and gone, and I am faced with a new semester. I am a full-time student (Biology Major), work full-time as a bookkeeper, and a mother of an eight year old. With all this going on it's difficult to find time to write, which is all I want to do. So I ask you, comrads, how many ba...

Re: Writer's Block

My problem, when it comes to writers block, isn't content. I know my story. It's like a movie that plays over and over in my head. But sometimes when I go to write it out, I freeze. Writer's block get hold of me when I am trying to find the best way to tell the story using the most effective wordin...

Re: How many of you write while tipsy?

I like to have a drink or two when I'm writing an emotional scene. It seems to help me feel the love, anger, despair etc. when I'm a little more relaxed. But if I pass that blurred line from relaxed to blurred vision, I get way too destracted.
