I have goodreads but so far its bewildered me and I don't want to sit and fill an entire bookshelf of images that already sit on my actual physical bookshelf.

Re: WIP Playlist share

Charlee, you started off this thread so I have to say...movie scores. Yum! In particular Piano scores. I cannot think of a better mood setter than Desplat, subtle, supple, lovely.

Re: What are you reading now?

@GKJeyasingham love Woolf! I hope you enjoy it. I read her books over and over. The Waves has more underlines and post its than pages. Also Munro I have a fantastic story about a much beloved collection of stories I had by her. Wonderful. Currently reading, The Twenty-Seventh City by Johnathan Franz...

Re: Sold my soul to Twitter

I'm @IshtaWrites And as an addition to the discussion on hashtags, there are some that are used for regular weekly conversations that happen at a specific time: #PBLitChat is every other Tuesday morning at 6AM Eastern; #YALitChat happens every Wednesday evening at 9 (or is it 10?) Eastern; #MGLitCh...

Re: 250 Word Sharathon--post the opening of your WIP

Sladuke, Thank you for sharing your opening. There's really nothing wrong with it as far as setting the situation. But it also feels like we've been here before. And I wonder what makes your story different than others? If this is your first 250 words as a reader I would like something weird or spec...

Re: Hello and How Nice to Meet you All

Welcome! I've only been here a short while myself. Opinion of the week...these forums are less scary to me than Twitter. Also 3/4 of an inch is very important for us short people. I'm 5'3.5" and get very upset when people try to round down.

[quote] I lay in my bed, watching the flickering flames of the fire cast shadows on the wall. It was well past midnight, for the slaves had retired to their cabins. The house was still. He continues to ask the same question throughout the beginning of their courtship, knowing it will always get a "no" reply, but once he realizes he actually means it (and would some day like a sincere "yes" from her) he'll stop asking until the time is right. ;) Fantastic. That sounds like a lovely...

Re: 250 Word Sharathon--post the opening of your WIP

Aimee,
I enjoyed your opening despite the lacking 500 word confusion. One question I had...does the hyper attention to detail fit your MC? It was wonderful but I found myself wondering how many people take note of cream colored carpet when there's a body on the bed.

I agre with Aimee. I know where the critique forums are. But they just don't seem nearly as useful as the upper sections.

Children of all Ages

Perusing through a craft magazine this morning I found this add for a publishing house called GROUNDWOOD BOOKS. Publishes novel-length literary fiction for children of all ages. 'We do not generally publish stories with an obvious moral or message or genre fictions such as thrillers or mysteries. We...
