Re: what makes you choose a book??
mostly, word of mouth. blogs and various threads on book social networking sites. author websites - if i like an author, i will visit the website and see what else there is. can't remember the last time i walked in (library or bookstore) and just got a book because the cover or title looked good.

Re: 10 reasons e-books might not eat the world
You know, habit is a part of it. If you grow up reading ebooks (or riding the subway!) you are going to be annoyed if you can't. God knows I am annoyed every time I am forced to go somewhere without easy subway access. And my relatives in the suburbs think a car is freedom and for me a car is a hass...

Re: Page Critique Friday 8/27/10
It is in the present tense! Wow. At first, when you introduce the characters names, I thought they were husband and wife. I didn't realize they were mother and son until you say "Her son . . ." I am not sure what is going on, just that something is, something involving the police (why else...

Re: Who first inspired you to read?
My third grade teacher. She read Charlotte's Web out loud to us and I decided I liked it so much that I would go to the library and get a copy to read for myself. There, I discovered lots and lots of other interesting books.

Re: 10 reasons e-books might not eat the world
I am not going to give up my favorite author (or series!). I have a few favorite authors (and series!) I would read it in whichever format is most affordable to be me. That leaves out hardcover. I prefer ebook, but if it only comes out in paperback, than that is what I will read it in. And if it onl...

Re: Multimedia or Straight Text?
straight text. unless i was reading historical fiction (or a history text, even), that pictures and source material would make an interesting add-on. for memoirs, pictures and sound would make an interesting add-on, i think. in fact, for any non-fiction, source material and references and links and ...

theepicwinner: May I then ask if you have read Twilight? I haven't read many English novels, but I have read Twilight and there I found some words difficult and I had to look them up. I'm not sure if some of her words are a little university degree-ish, but I know that her books is written for teen...

Re: Its got a nice beat I can dance to....
I know that this is going to sound completely NUTS, but I used to do that with a lot of Mariah Carey's songs. Now, now, now...before you start throwing the tomatoes, I should add that before she went all coo-coo, she was quite the lyricist. Up until her last GOOD album "Fantasy", the lyri...

does norway have community colleges? with english writing classes? Not as advanced as I wish them to be. But I still have to show up at evening - classes, and this is a problem when you have two children, and a husband who is a sailor. =) My writing in here might appear to be ok, but I really have ...

Re: Its got a nice beat I can dance to....
i pay more attention to the music than the lyrics. lol but i will admit the songs I listen to over and over are the ones whose words i really like. their music needs to be good, too, though. desert rose by sting, hero by maria carey, almost doesn't count by brandy, sweet dreams by beyonce . . .
