Re: Do you have a new blog post?

I try to have new posts daily, but it's more a part of a personal exercise in discipline. However, on the rare occasion I post something other people may be interested in, I like to let people know. I wrote up my Harry Potter 7.5 review last night: http://dariankovach.com/?p=196 Please feel free to ...

Re: Getting back to old projects.

Speaking of old projects, I start editing my first novel tonight, haven't seen it in a month or two. I'm a little nervous. I think that stems from me telling myself "It will be better once I edit it". Any advice? Lots of coffee. And be brutal. I mean seriously brutal. Don't be afra...

Re: Slipping into your story during revisions

I'm currently working on revisions of my WIP. I'm still at the scene-level stage, ensuring I've said everything relevant and cutting out wordy scene intros, excessive contemplation by characters, unnecessary explanatory sentences, removing irrelevant scenes altogether, etc. I read someone somewhere...

Re: Where do you get your story ideas?

My science fiction novel I recently finished, while a love letter to Star Wars and Star Trek, is more an analysis of my relationship with my deceased father. My other stories are a result of a mind that cannot shut off, ever. I become consumed with them and even at work, I can't stop writing.

Re: My Self-Publishing Experiment - Initial Results.

Dave, thank you for sharing. As I get closer to the editing stage of my first finished MS, I need to be giving these things some serious though. I appreciate your honesty, sir.

Re: The Introduction Thread

Thank you! I don't know about "mega-talented". I've always strove for mediocrity. I've found it's easier to lay and wait for the sick and the elderly to be weeded out if they think I am incompetent. :p Ha! I bet that's one of those jokes I need to use this expression for:  But I ap...

Re: Do you work on more than one book at a time?

Right now while I'm waiting on my first MS to cool off in a desk drawer before I start editing it, I've begun work on my second MS, but I don't think that's what you mean. Like others have said, I'm too ADD to allow myself the luxury of jumping around like that. :)

Re: The Introduction Thread

Darian - I'm glad you found this place. You sound mega-talented, with all of these interests! Your kids sound cute, too. I'll have to watch out for your jokes. I'll use this emoticon:  I hope that's offended enough! :D Welcome! Thank you! I don't know about "mega-talented". I've al...

Re: The Introduction Thread

Hello! I've been reading Nathan's blog for 6 months now and didn't even know the forum existed! In other news, I just found out my wife and I have children. I'm not very observant. I am so thankful his blog exists as it has been a constant source of information, humor and inspiration for me. I've wr...
