Re: Tag Poetry

I don't think we should limit ourselves to condiments. In fact, the more neglected the subject, the better. Expansion joint tar is PERFECT, IMO!

Re: Share your poems

Let's do it on another thread, then, so we can save this thread for serious poetry. Although the momentary interest in writing silly poems about condiments may have passed. We shall see! :) Never! There is always time for condiment poetry. Always! So what do you think, in the procrastination section?

I could swear that Stephen King does. I think he did that in the Stand. But then again, he's Stephen King...obtaining permission probably not THAT much of a challenge for him.

Re: Where do you get your story ideas?

Please, Mr. Sandman, send me a dream. Oh no, not another nightmarish inuperable struggle. Bring it on; working out a nightmare is as emotionally rewarding as working out a pleasant dream. More so! In fact, I don't know if I should even call them nightmares anymore. My husband always laughs when I t...

Re: Share your poems

Oh, no no no. I may have started this thread, but it has evolved into a life of its own. I claim no ownership. Whatever is the group consensus is fine with me. I would love to play, though, so if its decided that a new thread would be more fitting, please point me to the new thread!

Re: Where do you get your story ideas?

My dreams don't often become the basis for my story, but I often intertwine the imagery of a particular dream that fits a scene all the time. Otherwise, most of my ideas come from asking "what if." My current WIP was inspired by Galadrial , in the scene where Frodo offers the ring. "S...

Re: Old fashioned dialogue

Thank you everyone, these suggestions do help. More formal speech seems to be the consensus, however... Another trick I used, is that I always imagined that I was speaking in front of royalty. Somehow, older and more formal language comes easily when you think it might be read for the Queen of Engla...

Old fashioned dialogue

Calling all historical fiction, fantasy, and otherwise otherworldly authors. My current wip is fantasy, set in a world roughly resembling the Elizabethan period. and I do mean roughly-its fantasy after all. However, a problem I seem to be having is my dialogue is too contemporary-sounding. Without r...

Re: Female Characters

The bad gift-giver – “I know you like dogs dear, so I got you this bone.” The constantly late scheduler Vanity surrounding a beauty mark that looks more like a wart (or even a beauty mark that’s actually a beauty mark). Overly competitive – “My day was much worse/better” I'm lovin' the bad gift-giv...

Re: Female Characters

Well, what flaws would some of you suggest for a character in general? My book is for children so nothing too inappropriate. The bad gift-giver – “I know you like dogs dear, so I got you this bone.” The constantly late scheduler Vanity surrounding a beauty mark that looks more like a wart (or even ...
