Re: current event fiction--new frontier?
Thanks for the discussion polymath and airball--it's really helping me think this through. You're right in that this will only work for short fiction, and it will work much better using current events that have more staying power than some one-day headline. If had thought of this earlier, I would ha...

current event fiction--new frontier?
Using current events as a writing prompt has been going on in creative writing groups for a long time, but there has never really been a way to publish the stories while maintaining some sort of relevance--until now. With the speed of publishing on Kindle and the Nook available today, it's possible ...

Re: judge my book by its cover. please.
Thanks Sommer! I tried to fix the two shade of whites and I'll give it another go, but I think that it might be above my pay grade. I'll play around with the size of the image and the tag line, as well. Thanks again for your invaluable input!

Re: I have a blog. Now what do I do with it?
As a new blogger, this thread is really helping me out! In one of the posts someone said (I think it was Sommer) that it takes a good six months to really get the hang of it and get regular follwers, etc. That's good to hear because I've only been blogging for a couple of weeks (i try to post someth...

Sommer--
Not bored at all! Visual persuasion sounds pretty interesting. I've never thought about the elements of a book cover that way (as you can tell). Thanks you so much for your input, and I will definitely use some of your advice in my redesign.

Doug and Steph,
Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. That's exactly what I needed! And no worries about being candid--that's why I went here for advice instead of asking my mom.

judge my book by its cover. please.
Hi everyone! My name's Erik. I recently went the indie route by publishing my novel, Morality Blurred. I have a blog up and running, I tweet, etc. I'm new to this forum, and it looks like a great place to meet other writers and share our worlds. One thing I'm kind of iffy on is my cover. Some days I...

Title: A Conclusion for Fonso Genre: Literary Fonso, a tall and 95% lean fifteen year-old boy with brown hair thick as well-hydrated Bermuda grass, felt his feet shift on the Neapolitan mountain of trash underneath him. He has learned to fall forward in these situations, as a gravity-friendly backwa...
