Re: Easter Party???
Hey Margo, I believe you posted on my blog and asked me if I posted in the forums. Now I've found you! Strangely enough, my husband's family ditched us for Easter and my mom is out of state, so we are SOLO for the holiday. I bought a comically small ham and probably too many vegetables. I am tempted...

Re: Hunger Games Movie
I just saw that Elizabeth Banks is "in talks" for the Effie role. I can't believe Hollywood is going so crazy for all the casting news. Maybe they are building it up to replace The Movies Who Cannot Be Topped (and that other series about vampires). I am trying to keep expectations low. As ...

Re: Are you more likely to buy a book that won an award?
It can sway me toward a decision but I still need to be interested in the topic or storyline. Just today, I looked at Amazon for one of the recently announced Pulitzer winners, and I could tell by the synopsis and a handful of reviews that the book is not for me.

Re: Do e-books change the way you read?
I'm reading my first e-book now via the Kindle app for my smartphone. The screen is a lot smaller than an e-reader, but I already love the portability and flexibility of having an e-reader, so I'll be getting a larger one soon. Reading in bed is definitely a plus. Even eating at lunch at work, it's ...

Re: Recommend any dystopian YA books?
I read Delirium by Lauren Oliver last month, and it defnitely felt lighter than some of the other books mentioned. I had some issues with some of the dystopian world created in that book, but the story and writing was decent enough that I put those issues aside and tried to focus on the characters. ...

Re: Is "sci fi" a poisonous label?
I just wanted to chime in that this is all really good advice! It seems like sci-fi is having a resurgence in movies and TV; there are a lot of sci-fi and fantasy type shows in development for next fall if you follow that type of thing. I think query critique is probably going to be very helpful for...

Re: Delirium by Lauren Oliver
I am currently listening to the audio book version. I love the reader, she's a good fit. I'm enjoying it so far, I'm just under halfway through.

Re: Writing in a *done* genre
If you have to do paranormal romance, for example, and have to add a creepy love triangle why not say the girl doesn't like either of the guys and she has to defend herself against their creepiness. In the meantime the guys get into a fight to the death over her and she's free to be with someone wh...
