Re: Setting Usernames for Author pages
I'd have to disagree with Ms. Lamb. As a user, I actually find it rather aggravating when businesses, organizations, etc, and public figures like authors, news reporters, etc have you to go their personal profile to "friend" them versus being able to "like" their page. The former...

Re: Query: SWANSONG: THE FALLEN Sci-fi thriller
Interesting premise :-) Dear Great sage of Agenty wisdom, Snick - I needed a smile today :-) In the blink of an eye , the world's children vanished, taken by an alien power intent on killing or enslaving those the adults left behind. Why did they take the children? Were they killed? Vaporized? Or ar...

Re: Time of Day?
In an ideal world, my best writing time would be 1-4 am or so, which is my "peek" of the day due to having off kilter body rhythms. It seems to be common with creative types though. Alas, my job tends to frown on me being up that late so I have to force myself to live more regularish hours...

Re: Acknowledgements, at which stage?
If it is fiction, I think it would be rare for them to even ask if you've fact checked anything. From what I've heard, the publisher will ask if you have any acknowledgments to includes before its released, which would be after revisions and not. So it isn't critical to have it available when you st...

Re: Who's on Goodreads?
Alas, I'm not. I tried it, but didn't find the interface intuitive enough and that it became more cumbersome to deal with if you imported an existing library (900+ books). So instead I just stick to my homegrown online library. Has no social aspects, but that's okay :-) I have been thinking about tr...

I debated it, but I have so much on my plate already and am still struggling to get my main project edited for submission.

Re: New Query: REDEEMING GRACE
Everyone else already covered the major issues I noticed, so I won't inundate you with a repeat :-) The only other I'd suggest is drop "and look forward to hearing from you soon" from your closing. Many agents have indicated that the find it to be subtly demanding, that one they reply at a...

Re: Reading as writers
I read way more than I write. I'm a lazy writer at times (or more like a really lazy editor...grr) :-P In my current reading pile: Fiction * The Princess and the Hound - Mette Ivie Harrison * Carnal Sin - Allison Brennan * Kieli, Volume 3: Prisoners Bound for Another Planet - Yukako Kabei * Kieli, V...

Re: Why food is more important than sex
I've written about food in several of my WIPs. In The Strength and the Light , the main character's favorite comfort food is jello cups, which is noted in one scene, and there is another where several characters sit down to an elaborate meal with their favorite dishes. In Aisuru, To Love , I have se...

Re: Favorite Summertime Recipes
Made this weekend to rave reviews. Summertime is the time for... Deep Dish Key Lime Pie Crust: 16 whole Honey Graham Crackers (the 4-section Large Pieces) 1/3 cups Sugar 1 tsp cardamom 1/2 tsp lemon peel (dried works better for this bit) 1/2 cups Butter, Melted (adjusted as needed) Preheat the oven ...

Re: Query query
Though the query itself wasn't so good, I thought the way these authors handled it here was nicely done (as did the Query Shark) :-) For the final signature, if you're writing as X & Y, sign it that way. If you're using a pen name, either the pen name or X & Y writing as Z would likely work ...
