Re: Just for fun: What movie stars would be best for your MS?

I love casting my MS. This is for my YA.

For my hero, I need brooding with a wicked sense of humor = awesome smirks.
So I envision Ian Somerhalder

for my heroine, I see her as sassy, speaking her mind even when she shouldn't.
So I see Emma Watson.

Re: Let my mistakes be your guide. QL evolution

Oh why not I'll play... This was the first query letter I drafted (hahahahaha it was terrible) Dear Ms. agent, Broken is a 150,000-word completed Young Adult novel that is a forbidden love story having the same intensity as Stephenie Meyer’s series with an urban edge similar to Holly Black’s or Alys...

Dear SuperAgent, I agree with what someone else mentioned here - STRONGER HOOK - like - Sometimes life can depen...

Re: Your own website?

Someone asked about wix.com, or other such free sites. The advice I've read is avoid these sites because they have ads and it makes it look unprofessional. I suggest trying Wordpress first. It's a blog site that you can use for free. They off lots if nice looking templates, and you can even design y...

Re: Favorite writing distractions

You mean besides cruising through all your favorite forums and catching up and posting.....well, Tweetdeck distracts me because it pops up on my computer. My 3 yo daughter wanting to watch Harry Potter (I get sucked in every time). But my biggest distraction is my TBR pile. And it just keeps growing...

Top of my list is Harry Connick Jr's When My Heart Finds Christmas
Then Amy Grant's Tennessee Christmas (have to love the hometown girl)
And finally, I love Enya's Christmas album that was just released.

Re: Critique/Review Sites and Groups

I posted on AW, and generally I like the forum. The only problem I have is how large it is - you can get lost, and read posts for days. But what I do like about it is that there are all sorts of genre writers there that are willing to help. The place I use the most is Romance Divas - you don't have ...

Re: Your own website?

I have my own website - or blog - at my domain name. Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but just remember to keep it professional. I have read that many agents will Google you as they read your query. So if you are ranting about the submission process or pub industry in genera...

Re: Do you write the same genre you read?

I consider myself a reading whore, I will reading just about anything if it will "transport me off this rock" for at least a little while. But I find that I read more of what I'm writing at that moment. Right now, I writing YA paranormal and I find myself drawn in the bookstore to those ti...
