Re: Offering e-books with hard copies
My problem with this is that it doesn't keep someone from buying the book, getting the free ebook, and then returning the hard copy. Maybe if you gave a code that didn't unlock the ebook until after the return policy expires but I don't know how you would do that.

Re: Printing a novel draft with Lulu?
I've used lulu and liked it. Their formatting can be a little tricky and time consuming to get it right but worth the effort. Like lyndoncr said, make sure you keep it private. I printed up hard covers of my fantasy novel for my family members before I got my current book deal for that novel and it ...

Re: What's a bestseller?
I don't think writers should worry about bestseller as much as success. Being a bestseller would indeed give a lot credibility to your future work but success is what keeps you working. I think success is measured by whether you make your publisher more money than they spend on you. If you are a fam...

Re: Rhemalda Publishing??
Earlier this year I posted the above question concerning a friend of mine and Rhemalda Publishing. I wanted to update this thread. The company is indeed very new but my friend has had nothing but good things to say about her dealings with them. As I followed her progress while preparing for her Nov....

Rhemalda Publishing??
Anyone know anything about this publishing company? My friend has received an offer from them and I couldn't find much about them. They are pretty new, I believe.

Small bit of advice for using sites such as webook
I have been experimenting with webook lately and found something that can be frustrating. I felt I'd share it here for anyone contemplating using the site. For those who don't know, webook is a site that screens your query for major errors and sends it to agents who have signed on to use their servi...

Re: Ask Nathan
Thank you, Nathan. I so didn't want to be one of the ones to ask you a question that you've already answered. Sorry. Thanks for the link (I must have missed it or forgotten that I'd read it). Your advice is exactly what I was looking for. Now if I could only get your advice on what an ebook should c...

Re: Ask Nathan
Nathan, What is your opinion of sites that offer editing for a monetary cost? I understand that once a manuscript is taken by an agent, the editing (if needed) will follow, but some of these sites offer other services. I wondered if those services could help unpublished authors such as myself or if ...

Re: Revised query: Waiting for April
JD, I should have had you rewrite my query. I don't know what Jaime thinks of your revision but I think you did a decent job. I think you would need to change the last sentence of the first paragraph as once you become immortal, you can't become immortal again. Maybe something like, "...Scott u...

Re: Tackling a rotating POV in a query
I know I said this in your other thread but I really like your story idea. I understand what you are trying to do and I agree, it will be hard. I disagree that trying it from 1 perspective would be chickening out though. You could always try it and see how it works. I don't think you would be starti...

Re: Query help: Waiting for April
Okay, so I'm at the stage now where I can't move forward unless I get some more feedback! Please chime in if it doesn't make sense, or if there's too much information! I've tried to address the original issues as suggested by those who have critiqued it so far. Thanks in advance for any further sug...

Re: Query--Sendek
I do. It is probably a couple of pages back called the light of epertase. I'd love your opinion. It is a fantasy as well. And far from perfect. The heading for the most recent one I posted is two queries for epertase; which one to use. I have a newer version but it is basically this one tweaked a li...

Re: Query--Sendek
Hmm, I thought I was looking at the revised version. But things get messed up because I have to zoom the font up big and then things scroll too far...you have no idea, you who can read 8-pixel high letters. Oh well. I think I made the same mistake. I'll try to look at the revised one more when I ha...

Re: Query--Sendek
On the whole, I like the concept (definitely sounds like something I'd like to read), but I want to know more about what happens in the story itself, not all the past history of Sendak and our MCs. Good luck with this. Thanks Krista, I got a similar remark on the Nano pages and as I reread the quer...
