Clicked on the link, and the message said the post was deleted by the author. Or possibly his keeper.

Re: ANTEDILUVIAN query

I really like this, and I would read it. Caveat: I just read Angelology, so the concept of the Nephilim may make more sense to me than it might to others. If you get further questions like who the heck are these Nephilim, anyway, consider a little more detail. It sounds like a fascinating, and, I th...

Re: Query: The Soul Baby the Trickster and the Golden Buddha

Overall, I loved your query. In fact, I picked it to critique because of the very cool title. And I have a lot of familiarity with the subject. I think Quill did a fine job of finding the specific nits. I have a more general comment. If this is a true story and you are in fact the Michael of the que...

Re: Query: THE HEART OF BELDESSARIO - Fantasy (second attempt)

I read a much earlier version of this, and you have here a greatly improved version. The only thing I'd like to see is how Tessa tips the balance for the water wizard--not vast detail--just a phrase. It would up the ante. Congratulations for staying with this. I've taken a short vacation from my own...

Congratulations to everyone who has posted good news. And I love the idea of a good news category. We can't have too much of that.

I agree fully with the comments above and I also think this sounds like a fantastic book. I'm very eager to see how you revise the query.

Re: The Drunkard's Daughter: Started from Scratch, see p. 2

Hi, androidblues, and thanks for your comment. Annie doesn't know Dara is her mother. Her adoptive father wasn't an alcoholic when he adopted her. The Dara version was getting way too problematic. After reading a particularly vehement post on Shark Query about never telling the whole story in a quer...

Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments

With all due respect to those who aren't bothered by it/find it educational - this makes me so mad, I can barely post about it. I hope we can all still be friends. *BE AWARE - WHAT FOLLOWS IS A RANT* I find it not only unprofessional, but shockingly inappropriate. I believe it's demeaning and degra...

Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments

my opinion is it's unprofessional. Imagine doctors tweeting about their pain-in-the ass patients. I have a retail business, and there are times I'd like to publicly let off steam about difficult customers, but I don't. It's not a matter of outing someone's stupidity; it's a question of whether you r...

Re: THE REMEDY -2nd try at page bottom- Women's upmarket fiction

I agree pretty thoroughly with Remmik's comments. The main problem I'm having with this query is that, just as I'm getting intrigued, I get thrown off and confused. Part of it may be that the POV goes back and forth. Have you tried writing it exclusively from one or the other's POV? Or one paragraph...

This is a huge improvement. Congratulations for persisting. It gives me hope:)

In this version, the psychological complexities and torments Thea endures become more intriguing. This is a book I would definitely read.

Re: The Drunkard's Daughter: Started from Scratch, see p. 2

Hi, Polly,

I appreciate your taking the time to read this query. I am familiar with acting techniques or mis-techniques, so "indicating" is an unfamiliar concept to me. I can guess what you're referring to, and I might even be right. Could you give me one example of where I do this in the query?

Re: The Drunkard's Daughter: An updated Revision on pg. 2

I have completely rewritten this, using a different protagonist. Dara McBride has always relegated the subject of her adoptive granddaughter’s birth mother to the realm of Great Unmentionables, along with the true nature of Annie’s relationship with her "roommate" and how she got pregnant without a ...
