Re: new blog post? I'm So Cute! Buy My Book!

Something's wrong with me. I blogged again. "Blog" sounds so close to "Blargh." Like something you do when you're sick

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

Deep roots bind the publishing agencies to their way of doing things and the new e-publishing paradigm offers a way to grow wings. As a successful e-publisher, I expected attacks from traditionalists who are fighting change (using dirty tactics such as slandering e-publishers who charge fees for act...

Re: Serial Comma Use

What are you trying to say? Red and blue combined with white (red, blue and white) or Red and blue and white as distinct components? (red, blue, and white) It's all simple logic. And Quill, it is perfectly all right in today's writing style to omit the first comma in a short sentence as in your exam...

Re: Lyrics in Novels

You might get away with something like "He read 'The Shining' between bites of eggplant parmesan," but when you have interwoven your creative text with someone else's creative text, it would probably fail the "Fair Use" doctrine, which is to protect original and creative material...

Re: Tiny publishing houses -- yay or nay?

Especially because this industry is new, it is best to check with the publisher and not to assume, and it's always best to get your questions answered. It may be "industry standard" in the romance genre to submit full manuscripts, but Googling several houses will supply various requirement...

Re: Tiny publishing houses -- yay or nay?

As a tiny publisher, I'd say ask the magic question: Why? Why does the publisher want the entire ms. when this is not an industry standard? Basic paranoia would prevent me from sending out the entire thing to a publisher with only two books; Google eBook ripoffs and see what I mean. I recently read ...

Re: Exerpt scene from IRREFUTABLE.

It appeared on the right. "It" does not make a good opening line. Too vague and does not create mystery. More mystery could be achieved by rearranging your sentences along this line: Carmen was used to the moving lights made by the sun reflecting off the windows of passing cars, she usual...

Last Line Help. Thanks to everyone who helped me with the query, this time and previous times. I'm pleased with how it has turned out. Somehow some typos got fed in that you'll want to fix before sending. Please excuse my clumsiness with these editing tools. This is my first post and I'll get bette...
