Re: MEMOIRS OF DANIEL: THE FALLEN (Fantasy)

You are all so fantastic! Thank you so much for your opinions, critique and help! I'm so sorry that it took so long to get back to you all - things have been bloody busy since the chaos of Christmas and the NY brings a massive to-do list! :) I have revised the letter as best as I can, to try and get...

1st Page: Memoirs of Daniel

This is the first page of my manuscript. I'm cool with brutal crit - I don't take anything personally. Thanks in advance for your help! Victor's death was no surprise. The man was a smoker, a drug abuser and an alcoholic. His peace had been made over the years, but never as strong as the day that he...

Re: Helpful Synopsis Worksheet

Philip, this is fantastic! I'm about to start writing my synopsis and I've been banging my head off the wall for days not knowing where to even begin. So, so, so helpful. Thanks for sharing. I'll let you know how the synopsis worksheet helps me when I'm done with my synopsis. Ah, you're a genius :) ...

Re: Stupid things we think about

If the past haunts and the future taunts does it not follow that the present flaunts? ...That would explain Hollywood. I spent a lot of the day wondering why I can't have an English accent and how in the world those silly pilgrams lost theirs. If they had just stuck with it, everyone in America wou...

Re: Revised query HARP-BROKEN, take 2 (at end)

When sixteen-year-old Philadelphian Roiseen O'Reilly's father disappears in Ireland, searching for him puts her on a collision course with the mythical world of the ancient Celts--and her own desire to be a normal teen. This last bit of information 'her own desire to be a normal teen' doesn't captur...

Re: QUERY: THE DRAKE WAR

Hi there, Lil! I think that your query letter is written very well. It didn't feel dragged out at all, and you didn't waste your space with unnecessary adjectives and adverbs. The one thing that concerns me is that I sort of got lost in your hook. There are so many different creatures and people men...

Re: Short story series?

Personally, I love the idea. Chuck Palahniuk did it with Haunted. He wrote a main story and then a series of stories that each related to the main and tied into it in some way. It was fascinating to read and one of the bests of his (if not the most disturbing). I think that as long as it is done in ...

Re: What's your favorite song that tells a story?

Iron and Wine always does it for me. I get lost in YouTube videos and iTunes just listening to his voice over and over again. I feel like he's always telling a story. But, this one is my favorite. Cinder and Smoke.

Re: The Introduction Thread

Hey everyone! It's nice to meet all of you bajillion people ahead of me and, in advance, all you bajillion people below me. My name's Jessi. I enjoy reading just as much as I enjoy writing. Most of my friends think I'm nuts for the amount of time I spend doing both. I consider it self-education. I'm...
