Re: When the Sun rises- Adult fiction

Hi Priya, I'm going to go with fishfood on this one. The conflict has been set up - perfect life vs. what else is there - so now what? Unless high school is where the seed of her conflict is planted, i'm not sure you need it. She's got everything, why do we like her/ and what is she going to fight f...

Re: A Lullaby- YA paranormal romance query

Hi Priya, I've looked at this query several times and I'm not sure what to say. I think it's evident you've been working very hard and that this story is very important to you and deeply felt. This query seems unfocused and it's very hard to keep track of what is going on. I guess i'd start with the...

Candy,
you can do it. I think it's like a puzzle - keep trying different pieces. You also might try looking at the "Query Shark" site - she might choose your query to critique, and you never know. Also, submit it here for Nathan's query crtitique fridays.

Re: THE REMEDY - 3rd try at page 2 bottom - Women's Fiction

Hey Severus ( I can't believe I just typed that.)
Thank you for your comments. What is it about the last para. that irks you? Does it pull you out of what's been set up, or do you think it doesn't set up the rest of the book?
Thanks.

Re: Query - Amor for Love - Women's Fiction

Laura Gallagher tried to be a normal college student. What is a normal college student? this is pretty general . But she cannot fill the chasm left by her coach’s death and her discarded tennis career—not with a poet boyfriend, or straight As, or obsessive running. She flees to Mexico for her junior...

All of the available research is very partisan. Argentine historians contend that Bolivar was a vainglorious bully, willing to threaten the entire independence movement, unless he San Martin was removed from the picture, and he could be top dog. Venezuelan historians argue that San Martin was a pap...

Thanks to everyone for their help. I've been really thinking "what is this book about?" and think I've come up with the answer. Dear Agent: Will is trapped. He’s the youngest of the McAndrew brothers, three men who exist mainly for sex, drinking and trouble. They’ve also been living under...

Nathan, I'm sorry, but no.

Packers. Packers. Packers.

I love Favre, but he needs to take his hillbilly ass home.

I think it's also OK to refer to her "gifted" status - the interesting thing is that many young people are extremely gifted academically but not caught up in their emotional development. Which would seem part of why she sees herself with Zach - boys her age are way to immature. And yes, th...

Re: THE REMEDY -2nd try at page bottom- Women's upmarket fiction

Thanks glj.
Specificity, right? It's a big story and I feel like I'm fighting to describe it in this catchy way, when really, it's not pink covered chick lit. It's more like Alice Hoffman's stuff, just less depressing.
Thank you and I'm not giving up.
