Re: Congratulations Ink!
That's great - things run so much smoother when everyone is well-rested. We were the opposite - my son didn't sleep through the night until oh, about age three! My daughter was a champion sleeper from the get go - she must take after me. I love the name Beckett by the way. :)

Um, none that I can recall. My mom dated one of the Bee Gee's though when she was young - but not the cute one!

Re: What are you writing now?
As I chronically revise my YA urban fantasy, I'm also working on a new wip - also YA urban fantasy. I thought I'd pick a genre that no one else is writing. :)

Re: Have your blog reading/commenting habits changed?
I started reading your blog about 1 1/2 years ago which was my first introduction to any sort of social media. Since then, I've read a ton of writing-related blogs and started blogging myself. I don't see myself becoming a Twitter girl but I would have said that about Facebook 6 months ago and now I...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
I wrote a new post about why it's sometimes okay to let your characters act 'out of character.' Of course, I've never been one of those 'by the book' kind of writers so read at your own risk. :)

Also, I forgot to mention that I LOVE the name Caleb. Granted I'm a little partial because it's my son's name but it is a great name. :)

Re: Best TV show of all time?
I don't watch much TV but am a total BSG nerd. Despite my issue with the last episode, it's still my favorite show of all time. My hubby and I used to forgo sleep just to squeeze one more episode in before bedtime, and for me to forgo sleep means it has to be AMAZING! Someone else just told me I'd l...

Re: Will my MC's name kill my chances?
I don't think the name would kill your chances -- but I'd change it anyway. I think the name should flow, even if it's a fantastical name. Your other possible names that you listed do have flow and I didn't trip over them when saying them. If you're super attached to the name, you could use that nam...

I want to second Krista. I LOVE Querytracker and Agentquery and have used them to compile a massive query list!

Re: Tracking down conferences or other ways to bump into agents
I don't know how far you want to travel but two of the women in my critique group attend the Carolinas SCBWI Conference each year and have had amazing experiences there. One of them is having her second book published this year. The Guide to Literary Agents blog also regularly posts upcoming confere...

Re: What are you reading now?
I'm finishing Still Alice by Lisa Genova. It's SO good and is a powerful look at a woman's decline into Alzheimer's, although it's not as depressing as it sounds. I'll warn you that everyone in my book club was convinced they had Alzheimer's symptoms while reading it -- myself included!

Re: How Do You Know When You're REALLY Done?
When the book gets you an agent and is then sold to a publisher. Seriously, I don't know if something is ever completely finished because you can always find a word or sentence to fix. I rely a lot on my critique groups. I think I'm about finished with my current ms but I'm waiting to query until my...

Re: March Madness!!!
Huzzah! Tied for 42nd place with 8 billion other people, although I just passed Mr. Nathan himself in scoring. Wonder if that brings any advantage at query time? ESPN has 5.4 million brackets this year. Earlier today two dorks had every game correct. As I type this there are no more perfect bracket...
