Re: Favorite quote
I have so many favorites as I'm a quote nerd but one of them is by Henry Ford - "Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you are right."

Re: Reading Rate?
I've been told lately by my friends that I have a really high reading rate, since I'll go to the store and buy 5 books and be done with them within the week. I figured it out and it's a little over a page a minute. (Evidenced today by me going to borders and reading 75 pages of a book in an hour) I...

Re: What's your preference re: internal monologue in 3rd ppov?
I'm in the seventh circle of revision hell. Among many other things, I'm questioning the way I've indicated internal monologue for my characters. I'm curious what your preference is. A. Italicized thoughts in first person present tense: "Yes, sir." God, you're such a jerk. B. Third person...

Re: Something I have discovered, how about you...
I'm an out of the mist writer who hasn't had to worry about word count so far - I tend to write the bare bones in my 1st draft and then go back to flesh it out. It's fun adding the details in and I haven't had to cut anything so much as polish it.

Re: Confession time
All my best work has been written in my pajamas. I dream of the day when I'll be writing full time and can stay in them all the time - it will totally simplify my wardrobe!

Re: Pure Pain or Pure Ecstasy??
This question made me laugh. I'd say the 1st draft is pure ecstasy for me - it's just fun. The revision process has had some pure pain moments - right now I'm reading the entire thing aloud which is tedious but will hopefully be worthwhile. I do have small kids so everything is done in the space bet...

Just finished Hush, Hush (loved it) and am reading The Heretic's Daughter. Next up is Wake.

Re: What are you reading now?
I just finished Hush, Hush which was a great book to read following The Book Thief. It was such a fun read and I needed something for the holidays that wouldn't make me cry like TBT did. Now I'm reading The Heretic's Daughter about the witch trials in Salem.

Re: Editing - Hardcopy or computer?
I use both but now that I'm nearing the end of the revision process (I hope), I printed out another copy of the ms and am going through it line by line. It works well for me for some reason. Good luck w/ your revisions!

Re: Do you have a writing routine?
For me, I can only write after the kids are in bed at night. Also, when I'm working on a novel (I just finished one and will finish another after the holidays), I do an average of 2,000 words/night until I'm done. I got this advice from Mira's all-time favorite writing book - On Writing by Stephen K...

I'm with Marilyn on this. One without the other would make me feel stagnant as a writer.

Re: Recommendations: How to Books on Fiction Writing
My favorite is also On Writing by Stephen King - in fact, I just wrote about it on my blog today. It's more about the process of writing rather than the fundamentals and I found it very inspiring.
