Re: Is reading enough to spark creativity?
Dreams can also be a wonderful wellspring of inspiration, provided you can remember them upon waking. I seriously have had the best ideas for stories from my dreams. It's quite amazing what my subconscious comes up with. I just wish I was that brilliant awake. Also, the shower. I don't know what it...

Re: What is your go-to book?
I would have to say LOTR or anything by Anne Rice. But for YA or Children's, I really liked Beastly and of course Howl's Moving Castle. I highly recommend both of those. I am on a pretty big paranormal/fantasy YA kick lately. Does anyone have any recommendations besides Crescendo (which I was eying...

Re: How do terrible books get published?
Poor misunderstood broccoli. Lol.
I know what you mean though. I sometimes feel that an author gets lazy. I recently read a book like that by a well known author. While the story was vaguely entertaining, it was just set up weird.

Watcher, I will definitely check that out.
Fenrick, I would check out Shinto the Kami Way, for Japanese religion and mythology.

Re: What is it about Norse mythology?
Fenris, most of the research I have done is through books. I mostly peruse Amazon looking for titles that pertain to what I want to learn, the books. Barnes and Noble sometimes has a decent selection of mythology, but you really have to look. One book, Fingerprint of the Gods by Graham Hancock does ...

I like the second better. The words flow a little easier.

Re: What is it about Norse mythology?
JT, that is interesting to know about the anniversary. As an Irish and Norse (by way of my Scottish roots) lass, I feel I shall be thoroughly confused on that day. But! To the topic at hand, I am always interested in what people have to say about mythology. I must say, I have a slightly unhealthy ad...

Re: What genre do you read the most?
I'm kinda all over the place in my reading. I'll read just about anything that catches my fancy, however I do go through phases. For a while it was mystery, then I went on a huge fantasy spree (I found it a refreshing break from all the murder and suspense.) Now, I'm kinda on a YA/ classics kick. Tw...

Re: What are you reading now?
I've just started Snow Falling on Cedars. Before that was Frankenstein, which took me forever to read. OK, it was only like a week, but I couldn't dedicate enough time to it with trying to meet my daily word goals and all.

Re: NaNoWriMo Word Widgets
Hey, I'd to be on there! My id is akari09. It might motivate me to not be so word lazy. Last night I attempted to write more, but I ended up spending probably a good hour coveting the Beatles boxed set on I-Tunes. The awesomeness! The price! The lack of money! Grrrr...one of theses days Beatles boxe...
Re: NaNoWriMo
Ok, I know I am a day late, but I just signed up. Eek. Luckily, I am traveling for work for the next 3 weeks, so I will have plenty of time to write with utter abandon on the bus. Or so I hope. I'm not quite sure which story to go with. There is a character in my head that won't shut up, so maybe I ...

I'm with Lord of the Rings too. Read them probably four times. Now if only I could find my copy of The Fellowship, I'd start reading them again. :)
