Re: Ask Nathan
Hi Nathan, I have a question about romance queries. I know agents and editors prefer one POV in them, but I've also seen sucessful romance queries on Query Shark and Agent Kristin's blog that have two -- the hero's and the heroine's. What is your take on this? Thansks! I'm not quite confident I und...

Re: Query -- Mists of Eria (fantasy romance)
Thanks, Krista G., everyone has given helpful suggestions that I'm trying out in my query. I won't lie; it's not smooth sailing. It seems like everything I incorporate becomes a cobbled mess. Even though I've been using the back space button more than any other key, I think I have made some (small) ...

Re: Query -- Mists of Eria (fantasy romance)
thewhipslip and Bartle001, thanks for the critiques. I need to go back to the revision board. Sometimes I wonder how one little page can give me so much trouble. One thing I'm not sure about is the POV. Even on Query Shark and Agent Kristin Nelson's blog, the romance queries featured sometimes had t...

Re: Young Adult paranormal romance
Open up with a strong hook. Nathan has some blog posts (or at least one) about effective hooks or premises. A premise should appear at the opening of your story and should emcompass the central conflict. I'm sure I'm butchering this, so go look under the FAQ's on the blog. Once you have that, hopefu...

Query -- Mists of Eria (fantasy romance)
I have a query that needs to be ripped apart. Any takers? I've stared at it too long that my brain no longer functions. Dear Agent, College student Cal Weston’s dreams and waking visions are taking over her life, and the worst offender is Relian, a black-haired elvin male who features in too many of...

Re: Query: HARP-BROKEN--latest version at end..thanks for input!
Hi, here are my suggestions. Take them with a grain of salt. I'm working on my own query and am not an expert. Latest version Sept. 10--HARP-BROKEN query Agent info, as appropriate… In YA fantasy HARP-BROKEN, Philadelphia teen Roiseen O'Reilly wants her life back. Might want a stronger hook. I belie...
