Re: Thoughts on a male protagonist written by female

The other way? I don't think I even question it. Trying to come up with some books (google?) but I can't ever recall questioning it--although I have seen some amusing pieces where others have noticed how men tend to write women noticing their own bodies more than they ever really would in life. If t...

Thoughts on a male protagonist written by female

Curious to know if it bothers anyone when a protagonist is different gendered than the writer? If you decide to read the book do you read it with suspicion? I'm thinking more about women writing a male protagonist just because I suspect that gets judged more than the opposite. Perhaps not, but that ...

Waiting

Waiting is painful. I know *they* say to get used to it. That it is part of the process, the game, whatever, but it sucks. Whether you are waiting to hear back from agents you have queried or publishers your agent has submitted to, it sucks. Do people talk about how much it sucks? How every hour of ...

Scariest Books

I want to read more horror, but creepy horror not gory horror. What are some of y'alls favorites? I recently read Harvest Home, which was spooky enough. Penpal = super spooky. I do like John Connolly. What are some hidden gems out there. The spookiest and the creepiest?

So I noticed this agency wants query and a synopsis...

I am unsure how to send an email to the agent whose agency requests the following: please send a query letter, a 1-page synopsis, a brief bio (including a description of your publishing history), and the first 10-15 pages of your manuscript. I mean, I know that seems pretty self-explanatory but I do...

Chipotle Reads

What does everyone think of this?

Literature on your cup or bag? I'm surprised I like it, but I do. Toni Morrison while I eat my burrito? Cool.

Re: What T.V. shows are you watching?

I think TV is my favorite thing. One of my favorite things. There is so much good writing on TV lately (the last decade, really). I'm currently impressed by Rectify (first season on Netflix. 2nd coming this Summer). True Detective was truly awesome. Game of Thrones! Mad Men! Veep cracks me up. I sec...

word or pdf for manuscript request

Hi Nathan! I received two requests for a full manuscript (with no other directions). Should I assume I can send by email? And what is the preferred method (especially considering I'm working on a Mac and I don't know if that means there might be problems if they have a PC). Should I convert my manus...
