Re: feedback on word counts

Margo and Down the Well.... much appreciated. That's the way I was leaning... and it helps to learn that others agree. Why do myself unnecessary harm, right? On the other hand, if she returns with "I liked everything about it... but you've got a lot of streamlining to do"... then I won't b...

Re: feedback on word counts

In a nutshell, that's the blanket explanation I've been seeing in various places around the web. However, it's always been provided by struggling writers and not by the agents themselves. So I wondered how accurate these word count assumptions really are... if they're an industry rule of thumb... or...

Re: feedback on word counts

I need to know more about the stigma attached to the idea that a manuscript over a certain word count will be "auto rejected" by agents.

Re: Updated Query: The Between people Take 2... or maybe 3

I'd pre-order that book. Nice job... and with just a few tweaks it went from good to great.

Best of luck with it. Remember the rest of us when you're famous.

Re: JUICE: Revolution - nearing the final version

Turns out she reps a writer I met through goodreads.com and put together a 3 book deal for him. I haven't talked to him in 6 months and never knew who his agent was until I saw him listed on her client profile. Small world. I've got my fingers crossed (of course) but I'm realistic enough to know tha...

Re: JUICE: Revolution - nearing the final version

Amazing... while I'm spending hours writing and re-writing my query... with the help of all you folks on here... out there in the literary world an agent is reading my Query (the one I started with before I let myself get ripped on here) and she sends me a request for the manuscript. Yep, the long, ...

Re: JUICE: Revolution - nearing the final version

I stand corrected. Your evaluations are brutal... but appreciated. Below is the version I've just completed... again. For a lonely, overextended single parent like Doral “Dak” Kent, getting what he wants just means catching a break and with a little luck, finding a good woman. Improving his social l...

Dear Nathan, For a lonely, overextended single parent like Doral “Dak” Kent, getting what he wants just means catching a break and with a little luck, finding a good woman. Improving his social life starts when Dak forms a friendship with a family of foreigners. And when its patriarch, Caleb Westlan...
