Re: Book trailers: who makes them, $$$, and are they worth it

I think the popularity of the Nook--and everything multi-media--will drive a publishing revolution so that all books will soon have trailers, links to websites, interactive blogs.... I predict the ebooks will lead the way and the first adapters will be sci-fi and young adult.... Many non-fiction boo...

Re: What works better for you: praise or critique?

I like the critique, but given lovingly.

It ALWAYS hurts, it ALWAYS makes me think I am the awfulest writer alive...it ALWAYS makes my work stronger.

I would never submit anything without a second read from a critique partner.

Re: Should bloggers charge for their writing?

Hi Nathan and Friends, I have been thinking about this topic and see many writers asking the same questions. Wondering? Would this be an interesting question for a poll? I bet the stats will change as the years pass: Either the payment idea will work itself out, there will be more pay or free blogs,...

Re: Ask Nathan

Hi Nathan, Thanks for this Forum and the opportunity to ask questions. I'm totally confused on how to write the word "ebooks, Ebooks, eBooks, e-books"? (Assuming it is the same for "ePublishing, Epublishing....") There are different spellings everywhere I look, sometimes in the s...

Re: Short Story eBooks

I think short stories are the future.

Ebook publishers often talk about how their readers might download a book while they are waiting at the doctor's office of on a subway. I would think short stories would be the bread and butter of the trade.

Fingers crossed XXXXXX

Re: A question for outliners

I've been excited about Larry Brook's ideas about "Story Structure." His blog storyfix.com has some great stuff in the archives. I like his new ebook which includes a basic outline format with explanations. The outline works for both books and movie scripts.

Check it out.

Re: Trouble defining genre

We learn and market by making connections, so choosing one pigeon-hole for our book feels like we are cutting out whole groups of potential readers. We want everyone to LOVE our story. I know in the romance genre, the rule of thumb is that AFTER the book is finished, the author goes back and asks hi...

Re: Should bloggers charge for their writing?

I commented earlier, but I think I need to modify my opinion a little after reading you guys' comments. I think it depends on the content. I mean, you can blog about anything really. If you put the same content that you would put in a book, on a blog instead... does different media mean you shouldn...

Re: JACOB WONDERBAR AND THE COSMIC SPACE KAPOW

Are you allowed to tell us what "the cosmic space kapow" is?

Is it the name of a planet?

Should we play 100 questions?

Should bloggers charge for their writing?

Hi Nathan, With your devoted followers and reputation for great content, you could have created a paying community. You didn't. You chose a free forum for your readers. Perhaps it is because you are affiliated with an agency, or another reason. I am wondering what you and your readers think about pa...
