Re: How NOT to respond to reviews.

Jacqueline Howett responded on her blog: http://jacquelinehowett.blogspot.com/2011/05/in-retrospect.html It's interesting... (By the way, from the sidebar of her blog: "If you would like to request an author guest interview, please email me….Subject line: guest author request. Then I shall send...

Pottermore

The announcement was this morning. J.K. Rowling has created a new website http://www.pottermore.com/. In addition to offering digital editions of the Harry Potter books, it seems that the website will offer an interactive reading experience. I can't wait to see what they have planned. :D :D :D

Re: George R. R. Martin

Very interesting article about George R.R. Martin and the frustrated expectations of some fans:

Re: How NOT to respond to reviews.

I have to say I laughed my ass off when I read the author's reaction to the review. It's always interesting to hear from the reality-impaired.

As for the author, I say "If you can't take the heat, then stay off the computer."

Self-published author goes ballistic about review

A self-published author goes ballistic when a blog review criticizes the book. The author's comments are unbelievable.

Re: George R. R. Martin

GRR Martin is one of my favourites. Yes, all the books are as good, except perhaps the fourth, which I liked somewhat less. I'm biased, though, because he had to cut half the POV for the fourth (they'll be in the fifth) and most of my favourites were delayed to the not-yet-released fifth book. Mart...

Re: Any book collectors here?

I collect Michael Crichton's works. There are the books he wrote under pseudonyms, and the leather bound Franklin First Editions. But I'm also finding short stories and articles he published in magazines. Crichton published a short story in Playboy in 1968 under the name Jeffery Hudson, which is the...

I just finished the 18th book The Summer of the Danes. It's my favorite of the Brother Cadfael novels--a truly wonderful book!

Re: What are you reading now?

ANGELA'S ASHES. I saw the movie years ago and loved it. The memoir is fabulous. (Editing this to say it's a memoir, not a novel, which makes it all the more incredible.) I think this book is even better in audio. Frank McCourt writes in a rambling, Irish storytelling style that seems strange on the...
