Re: Ask Nathan
Hi Nathan I just wondered if you are still having email issues? I have sent my query four times from 3 different email addresses and even changed the subject to just query. I am staring to think the gods are trying to tell me something. All I want is a personalised rejection. :) Thanks Lillian (aka ...

Re: Forum game: Random facts about you
I can't write in silence. My mind wanders off and won't come back. I usually sit on the sofa with my laptop on my lap and the TV blaring in the corner. If my husband asks me what the movie is about I never have a clue. I got so shocked when I realised what Sweeny Todd was going to do to Mrs Lovett a...

Re: What Do You Cut?
I don't usually write long, I write short. Therefore I'm more likely to be looking for ways to meaningfully add. According to Stephen King, when it comes to revision there are taker-outers and putter-inners. I'm one of the latter. Same with me. My latest masterpiece started at 50K and, with additio...

Re: How much time do you have?
or great personal hygiene. This made me giggle...but hey hygiene is overrated. I have a very demanding day job that pays me for 37.5 hours of my week but, with travel and unpaid overtime, soaks up between 50 and 60 hours. By the time I get home and eat (my lovely husband cooks it's safer that way) ...

Re: Ask Nathan
Thanks for your answer, Nathan. In that case I will stick with plan A and keep targetting the US market. :) I too have emailed my query from my home email address, twice, and a gmail address and heard nothing back. I will give it until the end of the week, in case it turns up, then try again with a ...

Re: Ask Nathan
Hi Nathan I was at a writing festival on Saturday and some publishers were in attendance. One of the editors from Random House Australia advised that if you are an Australian author you should be looking for an Australian agent and publisher. She said if you submitted to a US agent or publisher they...

Re: How much detail for readers outside the USA
I have the opposite problem. I am originally British but have lived in Australia since the mid eighties so I come with two versions of the English Language. I use English and Australian slang in my writing without even realising it. It didn't put off a US publisher from picking up my book but it has...

Re: Do any of you other unpublished authors have websites?
I have a wordpress site that was designed for me by someone who knows what she is doing. I got it for a discount price but I think it looks good.
I need to do more with it as I mostly use it to blog. Once I get my book published I will add a page to show the cover and where it can be purchased.

Hi Nathan
I queried you late last Thursday and got no response. I resent it earlier today from my sent items box but I had deleted the information you said you needed to see where it had all gone horribly wrong. Sorry.

Re: How do you get yourself to write?
I have a very fulltime job so I have to write when I can. It's not unusual to see me writing in my hour long lunch break or for half an hour at the end of the day whilst I wait for the traffic to die down. Evenings and weekends I spend as many hours as I can on the sofa with my laptop in my lap. I h...

How about if you as a writer were offered a contract to publish your novel as an e-book and not a paper book? If that was the only offer on the table, would you refuse?

Re: Let's be honest....
I just hope that 'if,' and that is a big 'if,'' I ever get an offer from an agent they let me know before they call. Firstly, because most agents are in the US and I live in Australia, and I am not at my most sparkly charming self when woken from a deep slumber and, secondly, so I can mentally prepa...
