Re: The Coming YA

I won't comment on the grammar, as what I can see has already been corrected. But I will comment on the story, which I thought was brill: I used to be a great fan of Xena, and I loved watching it all those years ago. I'd venture in to the world of the Warrior Princess, and laugh and be entertained b...

Re: Long Ridge Writers Group and Writers Digest

I'm sorry I never got around to replying to this post (I honestly thought I already had). Thanks for you advice and encouraging words. Zeotrope looks like a great place to begin!

Re: Dealing with Writer's ADD

I have ADD, and am struggling not to write that new exciting idea. I do have two WIP at the moment, one in English, and one in Norwegian.

Re: How do you know when to end a chapter and start a new?

I write in chapters, and to me it just comes naturally where the chapter should end or begin.

I'm glad the emotion comes through, otherwise I'd be in trouble!

Re: The Sorcerer - adult horror novel

The 6 came from how the dialogue turned so abruptly. When I read, I like to know what the characters are doing; How are they standing, gesturing or sitting? What is the pitch in their voice? It is easy to misinterpret writing, as you never know how it's being said. "you're such a freak" co...

YA - adventure/mystery - 1/4 Chapter 12

I was just wondering if my written English has improved from chapter one (written in December 09) to chapter 12 (written recently). I know my English speech has improved, as I don't have to substitute some English words with Norwegian ones, when I talk to my family. In chapter one I mixed the past w...

Re: The Sorcerer - adult horror novel

Story I'd give maybe a six. I really liked the beginning, and the way you described the different storm. It reminds me a little of "The Mist" by Stephen King. But you lost me at the same time as the dialogue, it didn't feel natural to me. And some places I felt a little tossed in to the p...

Re: YA - adventure/mystery Chapter one (a little shorter)

Oh my gosh, I didn't even realize I hadn't mentioned if the MC was a he or a she. Wow, now that's close to pathetic! Yeah, I see your point. "I woke up and got out of bed"... boring... I already have a new beginning in my mind. I wish I wasn't too tired to be able to understand what else y...

Re: Which book have you read the most number of times?

I think the book is translated to "The crazies". In Norwegian it's directly translated to "The crazy house" It's written by Karin Fossum, and I have read it four times and studied it in depth once. I don't know why I like this novel so much, there isn't really anything special ab...

Re: First, second and third person p.o.v

It may be all true what you wrote about Meyer, but I'm still amazed with the fact that she has three children and wrote the first book in three months... I can barely find time to write a chapter in a week. Even now just sitting here, my 3.5 year old is standing in the windowsill, and my 1 year old ...

Re: First, second and third person p.o.v

Ah, yes it was a typo. When I write the book I am rather thorough, but here in the forums I tend to be a little sloppy, and don't bother to reread what I have written before I post it. Four years, huh? Wow! Well that's... four years... Yeah, so I heard this woman who never had taken a writing class ...

Re: First, second and third person p.o.v

Polymath Thanks again, I won't have to read this one more than twice ;-p I only changed the sentences to find out if I understood what you'd said. Here in Norway we have a thing called explaining something with a tea-spoon. It's lowering the difficulty of your language, so that even a child could u...
