Re: Where do you get your story ideas?
Most of my story ideas just come to me suddenly, sort of like they're epiphanies. I'll be sitting their just thinking about something, or see something and suddenly be like "Ahh that'd make a great story!" and build it up from there. Recently though, most of my story ideas have been origin...

Re: Poll: Do you like storytellers / narrators or not
While I generally prefer the lack of an 'independent narrator' in a story, I definitely think there are cases were it can contribute a lot to the story that isn't possible without the use of the narrator. So while I can't directly pick one over the other in general, in my own writing I've never used...

Re: Can you write anywhere?
For the most part, I can write anywhere. I've written in notebooks on trains before and such, and don't have a huge problem writing around other people or in public. But I prefer to write while I'm alone, as its less distracting and seems to turn out better. Reading is a different story though - I h...
Re: Nanowrimo
I've never done Nanowrimo before, but this girl on my floor has and was talking about it the one day and got me into it. I figure since I'm so busy now with all this different stuff and haven't gotten to write as much as I've wanted to recently, it'll be a good wait to force me to make some progress...

Re: Plot or Character - Which Comes First?
I always used to think that I had to come up with a plot first and fill in the characters to serve it. But then last year in high school I took a creative writing class, and we talked a lot about the importance of the characters driving the plot, and how in real life people make their own choices th...

Re: Teenage Writers?
I'm 18, so I guess I'm still technically a teenager. At least I consider myself one enough to post in this topic haha. Junior year is definitely the hardest, so make sure that you stay on top of everything in school. I slipped up a lot junior year, and looking back I really should have handled it be...

Re: The Introduction Thread
Hey, my names Matt (in case my username didn't give it away haha). I'm 18 and live in New York. I started writing around fourth or fifth grade, and have been into it ever since. I used to read a lot when I was younger also, but kind of stopped around middle school. I started to read more last year t...
