Re: Have your blog reading/commenting habits changed?

About the only thing that's changed is that the more blogs and forums I join, the less likely I am to be fully active in each one of them. I only have so much time in my day, and I can't sacrifice all my writing time to social media. Part of me feels rude (though that's probably just the good ol' Ca...

Twitter writing #hashtags?

I'm relatively new to Twitter and still learning the fine art of #hashtags. Just out of curiosity, what are the most common writing-related hashtags that you use?

I use #amwriting, #editing, and (with one other person) occasionally #buttinchair.

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

This week I share an open letter to a loved one who I really wish would support me: http://moirayoung.livejournal.com/5197.html *sniff*

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

Today I blogged about sacrifice. And I invite everyone over to my blog to participate in the question: what have you given up in order to pursue your dreams?

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

This week I blogged about technology, and the personal wiki as a writing tool.

Oh, and it's now official -- in a few weeks, my guest webcomic script goes live! ^___^

Re: Avoiding the info-dump

You could try to work it into the dialogue. E.g. [Character glances at pamphlet.] Dialogue: "[Quote propoganda]? Seriously, [name of boyfriend]?"

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

I haven't yet had a chance to catch up on the entire thread just yet, so bear with me. I have a confession to make: I only really started watching this season. Except for occasionally catching a minute or two here and there when I was passing through the living room, I haven't really followed it, be...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

I wrote a post today that I've been thinking about for awhile, inspired by the Olympics and Nathan's post from last week, "What writing and lying have in common". http://moirayoung.livejournal.com/4348.html Edited to add: Whoops, I suppose I should say what it's about. I talked about why I...

Re: Braille publishing rights

Hm, interesting. It makes sense, since at my job we often go through the publishers to obtain their PDF and e-text files for our print-impaired students, but I wonder where that leaves authors who *want* to make their works available.

Thanks!

Re: Do you have a rejection contingency plan?

I don’t have a backup plan. I never considered the idea that I might not get published. This (and everything Elizabeth said in that comment) is exactly how I feel. I'm not trying to be naive or self-centred, either. I've just been doing this my whole life, and I know it's what I'm meant to do. If I...

Braille publishing rights

Quick question - Are braille publishing rights considered separate, or part of something else? According to one of my braille-reading friends, they're part of electronic rights, "because in order to create braille files the person making the braille needs an electronic file", but I was cur...

Re: Unpublished coauthors of fiction

The coauthor is a webcomic artist, and the novel would be set in the universe of the comic that he currently has online. He's a great storyteller and tells an entertaining tale. So I'd say without a doubt that he's put more than enough work into it.

Unpublished coauthors of fiction

One of my hypothetical future projects involves a joint fiction venture with another writer. He created the universe, and I've got an idea for a novel set in that universe. Both of us are unpublished. Questions: 1) Let's pretend this was my first novel (i.e., I don't get anything published before it...

Re: What are you writing now?

Just finished: for fun, a script for a webcomic artist set in his universe (with no Mary Sues!) The artist/creator has already accepted it. We're going to discuss revisions, but essentially, it's a go. Currently: Revising and completing a romance manuscript. Also, letting my subconscious mull over m...
