Re: Gender roles: Emotionally weak heroines
Gee, I'm a little taken aback by this conversation. Perhaps most of you are using Twilight as an example? If so, I'm with you on that. But, heck, people, YA isn't defined by ONE book, or one book category any more than adult fiction is. I read plenty of YA, and in most of the contemporary stuff (I d...

Re: JACOB WONDERBAR - the cover!!
Congrats, Nathan. It looks really fun! And I like it that there's a girl in there too. The name Wonderbar always cracks me up because it makes you like the kid even though you don't know him yet.

Re: likeability factor (Mad Men)
Good thoughts, Nathan. I don't neccesarily think Don Draper is charismatic or hilarious, etc... but I do think he's a badass, for sure. Maybe that's why I'm willing to tune in every week. I agree with Margo and sbs, though, too. I think it does make a huge difference when it's on TV, much, much hard...

likeability factor (Mad Men)
I joined the forums specifically to ask this question. I love Mad Men mostly because everyone is despicable on some level -- morally, ethically, in actions, or complete hypocritical selfishness, etc.. (dragging Betty out of bed, twisting her nightgown and calling her a whore after you've screwed eve...
