I've just signed up with my current WIP. I've almost hit the 50K barrier already but I want to hit 60K by the end of the month.

Is there such a thing as being too controversial?
It's been a while since I've been on the forums. My computer's been playing up (hardware issues - a £1000 laptop and it's broken within a month *le sigh*) so I haven't been able to type up my WIP, which is currently on a USB stick. Kind of strange having to write on paper... Anyways, onto the topic ...

Re: The Introduction Thread
I am a Christian whose beliefs influence much of my writing May I ask if you write about Christianity itself? I'm currently working on my first novel (long, but worthwhile process; just passed my 40,000 words marker!) which revolves around religious mythology ala Milton (mainly Judeo-Christian, alt...

Urban Fantasy/Psych Thriller chapter excerpt.
A chapter introducing one of the main characters; Gary Sheppard. If things make you go 'uh, what?' it is either a) meant to do that b) or is explained in either a later/earlier chapter. Any feedback is muchos appreciated. Thanks, Callum. The Crucifix killer (2000) The blood dripped silently from the...

Re: Fallen Angel Chapter Excerpt - First Draft
Thank you very much for your feedback - it was very helpful. I've changed the two excerpts a lot since I've posted them here (I also have friends reading them for extra feedback).
Again, thanks!

Re: FOUNDER - Excerpt
My first feedback. Tried to be as helpful as possible! I figured it was about time I posted some of my own writing. Below are the first 5 pages of a science fiction novel in progress. I would appreciate any and all feedback! I am guilty of oftentimes writing in a vacuum. Let me know if it's too expo...

I think you've just managed to offend the entire British Nation. :PEmily J wrote:Tea is for sissy-pants (ducks in fear from the tea-drinkers) :)

Re: How long did it take you to write your Manuscript?
Woah, I must be taking so long! I keep on re-writing so much of mine even before finishing it. I've been doing my WIP (including research) for roughly 6 months and I'm about to hit the 30,000 mark. :/

Re: Fallen Angel Chapter Excerpt - First Draft
Here's the first draft of the second chapter of my WIP of when the Angel falls to Earth. Descent (1999). Scattered Bibles from the recent midnight Christmas Eve mass littered the floor of the Church like cigarette butts on a high street. Father John Simmons hummed various hymns under his breath as h...

Re: Best Fantasy Books
Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy is awesome. Read it if you like a good, bloody fantasy with some brilliant (although I did guess a few before they happened) twists! I'm currently reading his latest 'Best Served Cold' based in the same universe but different land called Styria which is based, as ...

Re: Fess up...who's a gamer?
I've been gaming for years and I find that they're a very good source of inspiration. My top games that I'm playing at the moment: *Dead Space (I've never s**t myself in so many directions before) *Mass Effect 2 *Dragon Age: Origins *Red Dead Redemption *Batman: Arkham Asylum (<3 massive Batman fan,...

Re: Fallen Angel Chapter Excerpt - First Draft
Thank you for your input. You are correct with the Franklin and Franklyn mix up; it's a typo (and general ignorance). Oh God (see what I did there), I never thought about that Judy Blume book but I feel the chapter title fits rather nicely anyway. The Meningitis dilemma - I see your point. I was toy...

Fallen Angel Chapter Excerpt - First Draft
This is a first draft of one of the opening chapters in my first ever novel, Fallen Angel . It's an Urban Fantasy with a dose of Psychological Thriller. Any constructive criticism will be warmly accepted. Please be forewarned: STRONG LANGUAGE AHEAD . Chapter 4 – Can you hear me, God? It’s me, Frankl...
