Re: Truth, Fiction & Reality
Thanks, writing bug. I agree that it is a writer's job to make people feel connected, and that the depth of this connection has the potential to be greater than what can be found elsewhere. As far as getting off the 'net long enough to read--don't forget the video games and the high-def TV's!

Truth, Fiction & Reality
The cliché says that truth is stranger than fiction. Novels are supposed to pull the reader into another world for a few hours—an escape from the everyday to a fantastical place where nothing is mundane and everything is remarkable. The best fiction has long held the respect of the entertainment wor...

Cooper,
Thanks for the kind words. I agree that the ocean--that great interconnector of continents-- provides for a rich source of storytelling ideas.

Thanks, Mira! You could also consider it a mystery, although not a cozy one.

Author / Book Marketing
I thought it might be good to have a marketing thread, since most of us here hope to sell books. To kick it off, here's a link to a guest blog post I did today for Tony Eldridge's Marketing Tips for Authors Blog: http://blog.marketingtipsforauthors.com/2009/12/pre-publication-book-marketing.html Fee...
