Re: Truth, Fiction & Reality

Thanks, writing bug. I agree that it is a writer's job to make people feel connected, and that the depth of this connection has the potential to be greater than what can be found elsewhere. As far as getting off the 'net long enough to read--don't forget the video games and the high-def TV's!

Re: A Book Is Not A Widget

"Given the utter lack of control, Amazon ratings are essentially meaningless. A book can receive a (low) one-star rating for lots of reasons or for no reason at all. Re: New thriller: Wired Kingdom

Just a quick update:

The release date for Wired Kingdom will be May 25, 2010, just in time for Memorial Day and the summer beach read season.

In addition to mass market paperback, it will also be available as a Kindle e-book.

Thanks,

Cooper,

Thanks for the kind words. I agree that the ocean--that great interconnector of continents-- provides for a rich source of storytelling ideas.

Thanks, Mira! You could also consider it a mystery, although not a cozy one.

Author / Book Marketing

I thought it might be good to have a marketing thread, since most of us here hope to sell books. To kick it off, here's a link to a guest blog post I did today for Tony Eldridge's Marketing Tips for Authors Blog: http://blog.marketingtipsforauthors.com/2009/12/pre-publication-book-marketing.html Fee...

Re: Should bloggers charge for their writing?

Personally, I can't think of any blog I would pay to read or post on. There are just too many quality free ones out there. I think for writers who set out hoping to make money from blogging, dissapointment is the likely outcome. Then again, one could argue that goes for writing books, too. A large n...
