Re: Checking and catching up and I've missed you!

I agree with a lot of the article, but I disagree with number three--I don't see any reason why your fictional equivalent of Belgians should be an accurate representation of Belgians. That's the whole reason why I world-build, personally; I don't want to have to work within the framework of existin...

Re: 2013 NaNoWriMo

I'm back for more NaNoWriMo this year, as always. :) This is the sixth time I do it and I don't intend to stop. I usually use it to either try out news ideas or push through rewrites. I'm not sure which it'll be this year! I do have this cool new idea planned out and waiting to be written. On the ot...

Re: 2013 Writing Goals

I have a few of them hanging around my head, but I have no idea how life is going to look this year. Here they are, separated by WIP. White Echoes 1. Finish Draft 5. I have 30k to go. 2. Edit Draft 5 from beginning to end (or, do Draft 6) Eau trouble AKA the French WIP 1. Finish the first draft. I h...

Re: Official NaNoWriMo 2012 Thread

I caught up yesterday! More than that, I caught up but am still very satisfied about what I wrote. These scenes are good, my novel found its path again and I feel like I'm going somewhere meaningful! Considering the amount of school-related work I had to do, for me to be on track for victory again i...

Re: Official NaNoWriMo 2012 Thread

I'm late. Like, 36k-and-three-big-schoolwork-to-hand-in-by-the-30th late. Tonight I am writing at least 3k, tomorrow I plan on 5k-6k, and after that we'll see I guess. I think I'll manage it, but this has been the roughest year so far. I spent an entire week writing next to nothing.

Re: Official NaNoWriMo 2012 Thread

I'm behind, although I haven't started writing for the day. So I guess you could say I'm halfway between behind and on-track. I can say, however, that it has never been so hard to reach my goals. I'm always busy, but never this crazily busy. By midnight I just have to hit the sack and don't have the...

Re: Official NaNoWriMo 2012 Thread

I just reached 8,333, so I'm a bit ahead of schedule. I'm trying to stay that way, and maybe get an even bigger buffer, because I have a Hell Week starting around the 13th and finishing on the 22nd. I'd love for it not to kill my NaNo. :)

Re: Official NaNoWriMo 2012 Thread

We had our NaNo Kick-Off this evening (it was a blast, as usual) and we are now all gathering on the chatroom to kick off the month. I'm super excited!

Re: Official NaNoWriMo 2012 Thread

I'm with Sommer and the "Nano is what you need it to be". Incidentally this is what I tell my Wrimos (I'm a ML) too, and this year I'm even joining the rebels' rank. I do encourage people to try something new one day (like, say, next year). It's a very different thrill. Anyhow: My Project:...

Re: On Post Apocalypse And Writing Perspective,

Honestly, I think whether your story is right before the collapse of society or after doesn't matter. Or, well, it's not what makes the story good or bad. I'd be careful with the "post apocalyptic" etiquette, though, since... well, if you're before the "apocalypse", it's hard to ...

Re: The Coffee Shop - OCTOBER

Yeah, I do admit it might be dead in the states, but trends tend to take longer to start and die here in Quebec. The market is its own beast and though it's influenced by what's big in the US, it's not entirely dependant on it. Half the well-known titles that come up all the times in YA discussions ...

Re: The Coffee Shop - OCTOBER

I kind of hope they stop doing trilogies too. It might be petty, but it grates on my nerves that when I want to read that book everybody's talking to me about, it's never one book, always three. I'm afraid I don't have that much time anymore and apart from Leviathan , I haven't read a trilogy in yea...

Re: NaNoWriMo 2012 - Prep

Charlee, Homeless: You two ought to try anyway. There is no shame in failing NaNoWriMo because life suddenly jumps you with crazy busy schedules, but if you think you can participate for a time (or through the entire month but at a lower pace), you're sure to gain something. It can be fun. It can be...

Margo that is outstanding! More than that. I can't think of a word for how awesome this is! So, here, have a mountain of cookies! Also:
