Re: Chasing Light in Sorbonne (Revised Introduction/Chapter 1)
Thanks Belinda and Airball. I am currently working on tightening these few paragraphs. I am really grateful for your intense corrections, especially for Airball's. I will be posting the newer version here, hopefully in a few days.

Re: Chasing Light in Sorbonne (Revised Introduction/Chapter 1)
I really like the title. It might just be my personal preference, but I think it would be better not to start with a description of the room. I think it would be more clear and catchy with the changes I've suggested, but these are just my opinions. Overall, I think you have a very good beginning. T...

Re: SENTENCE STRUCTURE
I'm more of a verbose crafter by nature, but I'm learning each day that short precise sentences carry the biggest impact. Hence, I could feel the emotions from Hemmingway's "The river is there," more than the preceding long-winded sentence by Hunt. Short sentences allow the reader's mind t...

Re: Share your opening sentence!
I liked the following: Not many people can claim to have killed one hundred and twenty-four people on the day of their birth, but I can. We're all immortal until we die. Jonah would never forget the day he died. Damn, I wish he would look at me before I leave today, Jaimie fumed silently. From my WI...

Re: Do you keep your WIP to yourself?
I think it is wise to get a few trusted people (better those who understand your genre), and include them on your vision. This increases accountability for me, because I know they know...it allows me to work harder on the dream and to put my everything into it. I have a private exclusive blog (passw...

Chasing Light in Sorbonne (Revised Introduction/Chapter 1)
Hello writers and readers. I would like to know your thoughts about this brand new introduction to my book. Two things I'd like to know at least. 1) Is it clear? 2) Is it catchy? Thanks for your comments in advance. Chapter 1 June 1972 "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a simple ste...

Best Time of the Year to Submit Manuscripts?
When do agents consider as the best time of the year to submit manuscripts? I am guessing September, but I'm not sure. Would appreciate answers. And I also want to know why. Thank you.

I'm 25, will be 26 in a few days. Started thinking about a novel idea in 2007, began to write it in 2008...took breaks here and there, and hope to be done this year.

Most of my favorite quotes on writing are from this website called "Advice to Writers." I added them to my RSS Feeds, and it's been simply amazing to read a quote or two each day. Link: http://www.advicetowriters.com/

Re: MAN OF THE HOUSE - 1st Ch.- Critiques Anyone?
Really, really gripping. Especially with such gory descriptions of decaying bodies floating on top of the water. And I kept reading only to find out Alaga was only 12, and his sister 6, which only made the story more intriguing to me. Although the calendar read April, no one had informed Mother Natu...

Re: Dream Walker-Chapter One
The story of a young girl being a "freak" and different from teenagers her age is a good one, and one that young people will be interested in (I'm guessing this is YA). Like the others have said, the problem here is too much telling rather than showing. Some Suggestions: 1) I think choosin...

I hope you enjoy it, although I'm still working on it. My humble requests are the same: Would love your constructive feedback. Does the story hoo...
