Margo - I would dearly love to see those questions!
I had another reason for my not being able to get to the end, but it eludes me at this moment in time.
Many thanks for your suggestions, shall just keep on truckin'
:)

Re: How does ANYONE ever (EVER) finish a book?!
Margo - It's getting to the end of the story, and along the way worrying about the language, and that it's not 'literary' enough, but truthfully, primarily plot. I have 60k on my first and 80k on my second and I'm pretty confident I'll be able to use very little in the heel of the hunt, so to speak....

Re: How does ANYONE ever (EVER) finish a book?!
Sierra - Oh God I hope so! By the way, I'm 29 too, and I'm one of the younger ones in my class. Money is a factor for sure, I'm lucky I got parental support and an alleged grant (it hasn't arrived yet.) If you have one or either you should go for it. I've let lack of money put me off so many things ...

Re: Literary Fiction
Great answers folks! I guess I'm just struggling, cos it's hard enough to write/get the plot, let alone do all the beautiful things with language that I want to, that I see the masters do and want to emulate.
Was wondering was anyone else feeling the same. :)

Literary Fiction
Is anyone writing the above? (Or attempting to, as I more accurately say about myself!) There seems to be a lot of genre/YA writers on here, so I was curious.
I would be interested to discuss other peoples highs and (low, low) lows with LF. :)

Creative Writing Masters
Is anyone on the forum doing the above and if yes what do you think about your program?
I'm doing one and it's just increased my anxiety re my writing above and beyond what I thought was possible!
Would love to hear from others.
Cheers,

How does ANYONE ever (EVER) finish a book?!
*screams in semi-frustration* There's just so much to do. I can't get to the end of my first draft plot wise let alone be all clever with my language, characters, dialogue and what have you. AND I'M DOING A CREATIVE WRITING MASTERS!!! (Does that make it worse? I'm not sure...) Any hints and tips for...
Re: Moving on
Ooh, I was just going to post something similar. First novel, I retired, temporarily, before I got to the end, because it was turning into something I didn't want it to be. Second novel I'm mid way through and now have 'THE FEAR' that nothing has actually happened, I have no plot (especially after r...

Re: Internships
Thanks Nathan! Alas they seem to be in the States, which doesn't suit me this year, and next year the plan is global domination...but if that falls through... ;)

Re: Internships
P,
Ah thanks. That was a genuine thank you previously too. Apologies if it didn't come across that way.
Yeah, letter (clearly) needs a lot of work, but just thought I would see if anyone had any ideas.

Re: Internships
Polymath,
Thanks for the link. I am aware it will be an unpaid position - I'm doing it to get a foot in the door, connections, a sense of the business from the inside etc. I appreciate your reply though.

Internships
Dear All, I wish to apply to literary agencies and publishers for internships, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for helping me write a winning email/letter? (I know I'm a 'writer' and should be able to do this myself - but I write fiction, so unless I make the whole thing up...) So fa...

SAVE THE TREES!
When you're writing do you tend to print out to edit, or edit on screen? I have a vision of a big stack of paper before me ready for my red pen to be wielded like a broadsword (I don't really write like that, just trying it out!). However I think of the trees. And wonder can I do just as good a job ...

Writing what you want to read
How much control do y'all have over what you write? To explain - I write what comes into my head. I can usually get a good flow going, for a few minutes at a time - damn my internet trained easily distracted mind - I'm working on it. But essentially, I write what comes into my head. I do very little...
