Re: Book trailers: who makes them, $$$, and are they worth it
Thanks so much, Holly! I really appreciate your checking out my trailers and books! To answer your question, I paid for most of the trailers myself, most of them costing around $25 to $80. The TWISTED TAILS trailer with live actors was more expensive, but I shared the cost with a group of authors in...

Re: Book trailers: who makes them, $$$, and are they worth it
I've had quite a few trailers made for my books, but don't actually know how many books were sold as a result of the trailers because I've had many different kinds of book promotions going at the same time. My book trailers can be viewed on my website. My favorite trailer made for my books is a quir...

Re: Top 5 Favorite Christmas Albums?
I love Christmas music! Some of my favorite Christmas albums are by Loreena McKennitt, Josh Groban, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller ... and Perry Como because my grandfather used to play his music every Christmas when I was little.

Re: What are you listening to?
When I wrote the three novels in my trilogy of THE FISHERMAN'S SON, I listened to New Age music without words but with moods that matched what I was writing. Some of the best music for this was New Age music with whale sounds when I was writing about my main character swimming under the ocean on the...

Re: What's your preference re: internal monologue in 3rd ppov?
I prefer to use normal, non-italicized font without quotation marks for internal monologue, communicating through the writing alone which character is experiencing the monologue. In rare cases, I'll use italicized font for this.

Every small press is different and usually posts their submission requirements on their website.

Re: Writer's Block
Knock on wood, I haven't had any major writer's block for the past decade. When I feel it coming on, I take a break and do lots of fun non-writerly things.

Re: Something I have discovered, how about you...
I have a very weird way of writing. Although I’m sure other writers must use the same method, I’ve only ever heard one other writer mention writing this way. After years of trying different methods, including many attempts at outlining, I realized I’m definitely an “out of the mist” writer, not an o...

Re: Does anyone write humor?
My approach to humor is similar to what Nathan and Scott described. I love developing characters that are humorous in their behavior, even if my overall novel or short story is serious.

It’s so cool, Charlee, that you found that book! Wow!
I only own one used book, and it’s not nearly as cool as the one Charlee owns. I try to buy all my books, in order to support the authors.

Re: My father had nothing to do with making that ship disappear.
Hi, Rose, This is just my own opinion, and Nathan would be a much better judge than me. I like the new version as an opening very much, but in order for me to know if I'd want to read the entire book, I'd probably need to know more about the type of scientific research materials you mention. That wo...
