Re: Best Dystopian Novels

Brave New World can't be overlooked. Also recently I've read Legend and Divergent and those are both good. Cinder is more SciFi than dystopian but it has some of the same undertones. And I loved it more than the others.

Ah, Margo. Freaking love your covers, just saying.

And with all this writing, however will you ensure people stay off your lawn?

Re: Querying UK Agents?

At least you guys have options. In Australia there are maybe three agents that rep fiction, and only one of those (that I'm aware of) is actually open for submissions. Publishers are harder. They play the game of ready, set, go and open for submissions at random time and include a cut-off date. So i...

Re: [SPOILERS] Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

I went to the midnight screening too and I've seen it twice more since then. I'll be going again this week sometime. I've always been a massive Potter fan but I've never liked any of the movies. Part one was a lot better than most but I still didn't have high hopes for part two. It was amazing. I to...

Re: Here we go again--planners plus pantsers=?

And I have the utmost respect for pantsers because I just cannot do it. For me, I need to start by planning out my characters and their motivations exactly. Then when I eventually get around to writing I need to know where my chapters start and where they end. With these things I can start, without ...

Hey Guardian, I've added you. Your page looks awesome by the way. I'm a little jealous. Now, when I made the page for some reason it just didn't click to make it a fan page. Aw well. This is the link if anyone is interested: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=100002312446681 Feel free...

Facebook

I recently made myself an author page to start building a 'web presence'. My personal page isn't as professional as it could be with the amount of friends I have spamming my page each day but I have run into a bit of a problem. I'm not sure whether I should keep the page 'writerly-related people/pag...

If I'm not in the mood, I'll warm up by reading previous chapters to get that character's 'voice' in my head...

The Court of Last Chances - YA fantasy

Hey guys, so I haven't been around for a while, mostly because I've been flat-chat with work, uni and writing (yes I know, woe is me). I've put my previous query aside for the moment because even though the story is ready to go, I just can't get that damn thing sorted. So here is a new one. I don't ...

Re: Nominate Your Query for a Critique on the Blog

Dear Nathan, If an Ellerwoman makes a promise she has to follow through. For Adelaide Williams, promising the impossible has become a habit. On her seventeenth birthday, Addy signs her contract with the Torrens Court, promising to do her job following their rules and regulations. When her first assi...

Writer's Market

So, for my birthday, I was given a membership to the Writer's Market site along with the deluxe edition book. Is any one else a member? Or have you been one in the past and found the site useful?

There is a lot on there so I'm still exploring...

I'm a little late, but Happy New Year, guys.

I've loved every minute of 2010 and these forums were a good part of it so I wish you all the best (and lots of cookies) for this year.
