Re: Craptastic covers... what are your pet peeves?

I read trashy romances like some people drink coca-cola to excess or maybe have one too many take-outs. The covers themselves have a whole series of Tropes attached to them it's fantastic to see them appear. The main one though is the muscled man with an open shirt which is still tucked in. Either d...

Re: Which book have you read the most number of times?

I read David Eddings' books The Belgariad, Mallorean, Elenium and Tamuli once a year. That's at least 17 books of various lengths. My copies are very badly worn now but I haven't the heart to go and replace them. I wouldn't mind them in hardback and leather bound but I don't think that can be done. ...

Re: Funniest book you've read?

Oh man. I can't decide! It's a toss up between three that have made me laugh out loud. Christopher Moore's book Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ`s Childhood Pal - Hilarious and everyone should read it. It was before a weekly meeting of writers local to Cork in a café bar in the city. So while I was waiting for good frie...

Re: What do you "do"?

I fix and break computers! Not desktop computers but huge linux/UNIX switches, translators and circuits. Been working in this industry since I left college when I was 18. Never went to university but instead learnt on the job doing night classes and taking time out to put myself on courses. I love i...

Re: Share your opening sentence!

Ok, so having read through this thread I've found two openings that I love: "A death in the family is always difficult to cope with, especially when it’s your own." - miahayson "Nathadria, the girl everyone had forgotten, decided to leave Hell." - Emily White. Most of the other o...

Re: The Introduction Thread

Well, I'm here! The first port of call. The Introduction Thread. My name is Quinn (or any variant thereof. See: Quinnykins). It's what people have called me since my school years, and you can blame that on the 10 other girls in my school that shared my given name. That and as is the will of English ...
