Re: A new photo of Nathan?

Down the well - you owe me a new keyboard! lol

The hair in the face wouldn't work - he looks better with the backward wind blown look!

Just as long as he didn't get a haircut! It's at the perfect length.

Re: Nominate Your Query for a Critique on the Blog

Dear Mr Bransford; One in three women in the Armed Forces is sexually assaulted or raped by her comrade in arms. Since 2005 CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS have reported on rape in the military. The Pentagon investigates, unit commanders try to find a way to stop it but more and more victims still come ...

Re: Query: Silent No More

wilderness - I never in a million years would have thought to put the analogies of Germany and Fort Riley in a query. I'm definitely putting it in. I think it conveys how much it took to finally break me. I've been asked many times why I was coming forward now and the only answer I had was that I fe...

Re: Query: Silent No More

Thanks again for the help. I actually wanted to submit to Query Shark but according to her site, she doesn't do memoirs. I forgot about Nathan's. I think I'll actually take a chance. I know he uses a random generator, but I might get (un)lucky! Do I need to put in what >nice word<s I'd use or leave ...

Re: Query: Silent No More

androidblues - unfortunately it happens all too often. The number of reported rapes from 2008 to 2009 increased by 190%. (1700+ to 3300+) The military is just really good at cover-ups! I would love to know the numbers for when I was in. It wasn't until 1988 that the Army first started holding classe...

Re: Number Four! Query for "Devin Briar"

Dear Agent, No move in Devin Briar’s life is his choosing, from the simple government job he starts out with, to his climb to power by sheer innuendo and circumstance. Who is behind his rise to power and why him? Is it the powerful Senator, he’s related to, or the five influential members of the me...

Re: Query: Silent No More

Thank you. I'm off to figure out what to put in the other paragraphs.

I make a lot of things with beads and I know that it takes a certain person to buy my stuff. My memoir deals with rape and I have a feeling that it's going to take a certain agent to handle my book.

Re: Query: Silent No More

I guess it doesn't hurt to have a proposal as well as the completed manuscript (but make it clear that it is completed in the query). Here Miss Snark says memoirs are the exception to the rule about non-fiction books having proposals: http://misssnark.blogspot.com/2006/04/nf-book-proposals-even-if-...

Re: How important is your title to getting an agent?

I'm probably wrong but I think it depends on the genre. I thought I had a good query letter and when I queried a couple of agents, I put "query: title of my book" in the subject line and within a few minutes had rejections. It may have been my query, I'm slowly learning how to do it right,...

Re: Query: Silent No More

Thank you very much for your help. I truly appreciate it. And here I thought it was too long! Good to know that I have a little playing room. I'll keep the first three paragraphs. (At least the first line of the second one.) This is background only, I'd like to add it all but it's definitely too lon...

Re: MC "hijacking" query?

This may be an absurd idea, but I need an answer. Would having your MC "hijack" your query be a bad idea? Even if they were the type of person to do something like that? For instance, say my MC is an alien creature. In the query they could say some human (i.e. me) has taken it upon themse...
