Re: What you want to write VS what you write
To J.T. Shea: I am willing to bet on Pretentious Trash. I love reading it myself. Nothing better than fabulous characters, sexy settings and scintillating plotlines all spelled out with big words that make the reader feel oh-so-smart! Style is not chick-lit, more the classic, naive outsider looking ...

Re: What you want to write VS what you write
I also find a big difference between what I want to write and what I actually write. My goal is to write thought-provoking, complex, meaningful literary fiction. Re: Why do you reread books?
In general, I am reaching a point where fiction, my once favorite friend, is failing to grab me, to pull me away from my daily life, to satisfy. Reading lots of non-fiction nowadays. Do you ever get the feeling that the pace and distractions of a more complicated life are hindering you from droppin...

Re: Why do you reread books?
There are numerous novels that I read and re-read frequently. There are simply so well done, so much better than most new books out there, that I read them because I know I will enjoy them, learn craft from them and will not be disappointed. Too many supposedly amazing books just do not measure up. ...

Re: What are you writing now?
Mainstream fiction in a psuedo-literary style (i.e. big words that sound smart together but within an easily accessible, engaging plot and well-developed, interesting characters). Set at Ivy League law school, written by a graduate of said Ivy League law school.
