Re: Nightframe Query

Mary Edmondson (personal information) (Agency information) Dear Agent, Brody thinks Tabitha is a hero—but, of course, love is blind. He can’t see what she truly is: a werewolf. Tabitha knows that one day she won’t have the ability to keep control. Until then, she'd sacrifice her life to keep him saf...

Re: Query - The Coming

(I don't like being harsh, but I'll try to be as honest as I possibly can without being critical. I just want to level with you, and letting you know that I'm not talking down to you-- I'm in the same boat you are, looking for an agent. I mean, if I didn't need help getting an agent, I wouldn't be o...

Re: Query for THE LAST SYMPHONY OF JUAN GARCIA

I'm sure you won't have a problem... okay, maybe a few. But that's how it's suppose to work. It's suppose to be long and full of suffering. Which is why all writers are closet masochist.

Re: Query for THE LAST SYMPHONY OF JUAN GARCIA

I in no way claim to know more about the publishing industry, and I understand your skepticism in beginning a writer-agent relationship. It's a pretty big deal! Just, from what I've read, agents are pretty important for a first time writer. I know what you mean by an agent that's too hands on, espec...

Re: Query for THE LAST SYMPHONY OF JUAN GARCIA

Trust me, you want an agent. Getting an agent is a must for a first time writer. They help you work out the best deals with editors and publishers. Publishers do not accept unsolicited writers. Do you know the right sites to go to find one? Because I can point you to a few I know.

Re: Query for THE LAST SYMPHONY OF JUAN GARCIA

Why thank you, I do try. I honestly like your book. I mean, I really do. Not just saying that. Oh my godiva, you explained the madness perfectly. It does feel like madness sometimes to even get involved with writing. It wasn't until recently that I felt like all my efforts have been productive. I've...

Re: Query for THE LAST SYMPHONY OF JUAN GARCIA

Um, awesome. Loved the racist chick. I think you need a comma between racist and outspoken. However, I was smiling the entire time I read your query. It's short, breaks all the rules, and I love it. I hope you know that you need to place the title of your story, word count, and genre after the query...

Why thank you, Kevin! I love your suggestions. I don't think I made it very clear that I revised my query, because I didn't make it first person. I can't wait to read yours. I'm sure it's fantastic!

Thank you Falls Apart and oldhousejunkie! I'll try this baby again! What the two of you have said is absolutely right, and I'm going to try and apply it to my query.

Re: NIGHTFRAME: IN THE RED OF THE KNIGHT Query II

Mary-Catharine, thanks for looking at my query. I've been wrestling with it for days, so I know how tough they are to write. The biggest issues I see with your query: (1) Length: aim for one or at most two paragraphs, approximately 100 words or so total. I went to the drugstore this week and bought...

Here, again, is the body only (minus the personalized agent para and genre/word count) of my work in progress. Any and all input is helpful. Thank you.
