Re: Kids and reading

I just had a hit on my blog from this thread, so I followed the link back and, wow, talk about how things have changed! lol. I don't even know if this reply will post since the thread is so old, but anyway, since posting this four years ago, I'm thrilled to report that my daughter (13yo) is now an a...

Re: Rejection and Recovery

Agreed. Aside from talent, the best traits a writer can have are perseverance and resiliency. I read on Querytracker this morning a success story about a guy who received over two hundred rejections before finding his agent. That's a lot of rejection, and I don't know anyone who wouldn't get discou...

Title: Tested Word Count: 310 Genre: Romantic Suspense Sam Brennan tossed back his fifth shot. As the heat of the alcohol burned down to his belly, the numbing effects spread like a warm blanket. He poured another, held the glass at eye level and admired the flickering of the fireplace flames throug...

Re: E-book experience

Mira, I love the free classics! I picked up Jane Austen's P&P the other day for nothing. I think that's a fantastic way to get people to read, and maybe inspire people to pick up texts that they developed a childhood aversion to. What are you reading now? Not Mira, but wanted to chime in with l...

Re: E-book experience

A month ago, I bought the book "City of Ember" on my PC Kindle app that I use on my netbook. It's not as nice as a Kindle, but it's okay. So, I finished the book about midnight, and then discovered that there was a sequel! Whee! I bought it instantly and began reading a minute later. I lov...

Re: I finally got the Kindle and I adore it

I woke up to find my book in the top one hundred on Kindle's Romantic Suspense list. I even took a screen capture just for proof, so when it drops, I can always say I was right under one J.D. Robb book and above another. Totally cool!!! I would have done the same thing. Congratulations!! Thanks! I'...

Re: I finally got the Kindle and I adore it

I have Kindle envy for all you Kindle owners. ;-) At the moment, it's not in the budget since we are moving in a few weeks and will incur some expenses with that. However, today, I woke up to find my book in the top one hundred on Kindle's Romantic Suspense list. I even took a screen capture just fo...

Re: Friday Night Lights

How awesome is it that Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton finally received some much deserved recognition for their roles as Coach and Mrs.Coach with Emmy nominations for both of them? I don't know what their chances are, but I think Kyle Chandler might have a slightly better chance as the episode he ...

Re: I finally got the Kindle and I adore it

I only have the Kindle application for PC, but it's on my little netbook, so that makes it easier to read on than a desktop or full size laptop. I love it! Makes me want a real Kindle even more. The other night I had bought a book, loved it, finished it about midnight, and bought the sequel right th...

Re: Forum game: Random facts about you

Random fact about me: I'm a mutant. No, it's true. I have weird shaped red blood cells. The name for the problem is congenital spherocytosis. I passed it on to my three kids too, so they have hereditary spherocytosis. (mines congenital because it was present at birth but with no hereditary connectio...

Re: Friday Night Lights

A friend just posted on my Facebook that EW.com posted a fanvid I made a few years ago on their page. It's for 'Best TV Dad' contest in honor of Father's Day. How cool is that?

Re: Friday Night Lights

I got into the show by reading about it from Nathan first. I loved the first three seasons (except for how they began too abruptly in the 3rd). Since I live overseas I just wait for the DVDs to come out before I watch the next season. The third season had to start like that because the second seaso...
