Re: How many of you write while tipsy?
One additional benefit is that if I'm drinking and writing I'm not doing far more regrettable things like drinking and texting or drinking and emailing, all of which seem to be far more lamentable in the long run. Anywho, I just finished edit #5 on my current manuscript, which I think is the last on...

Re: MG historical novel, query revised
I think instead of referring to Charlie Spears, you should be more generic and use his military title. That way you are introducing one less character. Sounds like an interesting story though.

Re: How many of you write while tipsy?
I find that I make a lot more typos, but that the writing is less self-conscious and more natural sounding. However, when I edit I have to be dead sober. (Don't get me wrong though, I'm not writing drunk, just a little lubed up).

Re: Sharing novel ideas (that you couldn't write yourself) ?
The conjoined twin one sounds like it has hollywood all over it! But it sounds way out of my league. One idea I've had is to rewrite the Bible. Let me be more specific - there would be a book about a guy that starts talking to God (I'm picturing it being a comedy), and God tells him the "real s...

Re-imagining Shakespeare
I just read Julius Caesar and was inspired to do a comic re-imagining in a modern day setting. Anyone think this would have a snowball's chance in hell of selling?

I'm reading THE STUPIDEST ANGEL by Chris Moore. Not only is he a great writer but a cool dude as well. This book ranks up there Fluke but not quite a good as Blood Sucking Fiends.

Re: Partial requests, attached text, etc
Nathan missed my subtle hint of just offering me representation... it would have saved us all time - I wouldn't have queried, he wouldn't have rejected it, I wouldn't have requeried, and he wouldn't have to request a partial, which he then would have rejected, and then I wouldn't have queried again ...

Re: What's your take on the B&N Nook?
The nook looks slick, and it has a more open format than the Kindle - the nook is what the Kindle should have been on version 2 (but amazon failed). I personally use a sony eReader b/c I live in a country that is unsupported by 3G and therefore don't need those features. All of them perform the same...

How many of you write while tipsy?
Title says it all... I find that the creative juices flow the fastest after a couple of glasses of wine (or two white russians, a beer, and a side of chicken masala). Anyone else attempt to drink and type? I find that it lowers my standards and my inhibitions and makes me get stuff on paper. EDITED ...

Re: Writer's Block
I think you have to ask yourself "What is writer's block?" It is obviously anything that stops you from writing. I find for myself that my "blocks" are laziness/inattentiveness - There are many times when I'd rather have a beer and watch the football game than write. I can't writ...

Re: Second Hand Books
I only buy second hand when traveling - I picked up a copy of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance in Paraguay a few years ago, a couple of Le Carre novels in Norway, and few others in central Amercia... I also once "liberated" a copy of catch-22 that was in the toilet paper pile of a...

Partial requests, attached text, etc
Agents:
When I query you, and when you request first 10 pages, does that mean single spaced or double spaced?
p.s., all you agents could just save me a lot of worrying by agreeing to represent me immediately :)

Re: e-book fonts
You can use different fonts... depends on what formats the eReaders can handle. ePub and native PDF supporting readers can handle almost any font.
No idea about what is easiest to read.
