Re: Fess up...who's a gamer?
Sadly, I am an addicted gamer. Mostly PC. I don't enjoy consoles much even though I own a Wii and PS3, but I've played some good games on them. I enjoy RPG, RTS, MMO and shooters the most, in that order. My first RTS was Age of Empires (which I played competitively in my teenage hood... I was a terr...

Yes, they're synonym. I suppose the Holy Grail is the US is representative of something that is perfect but unattainable?
Thanks for the kind words! :)

Re: TRINITY, an urban fantasy query
Hello Susan! Thanks so much for sharing your story, I find it very inspirational and I love to hear those success stories too! :) In Canada we often refer to things that are "la crème de la crème", ie the best of as "the holy grail of 'whatever'". Quill's suggestion of using Roll...

Re: TRINITY, an urban fantasy query
I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart! I sent nine queries over two days and received 1 rejection and 3 requests for a partial so far! I'm quite sure my new query would have been a lot less strong without your feedback, so thank you 1000 times! If I land an agent I'll throw a contest ...

Re: Bengal kitten pictures!
Now I want to touch them. Good luck with that! My brother came over to look at the cute kittens... Maya loves my brother. The second he came close to her and the babies she almost DEFACED him. I had never seen such killer instincts in a small animal in my life. Maya usually stays with them 24/7, un...

Re: Ask Nathan
Hi Nathan! I was wondering what your thoughts were on re-sending a query after it's been rejected. I know you've blogged about this and the reason I am asking is because I read something on Kristin Nelson's blog that made me wonder... The post is here, but I've included the relevant section below: h...

Re: Bengal kitten pictures!
I had the idea to document their growth from birth to kitten stage. I won't be posting every day (promised) but some of these are too cute not to share. http://www.franciscossette.com/img/Maya/7-14-2010/IMGP3909.jpg http://www.franciscossette.com/img/Maya/7-14-2010/IMGP3910.jpg http://www.franciscos...

I've heard of Banshees and last I remembered they were some kind of Amazonians... but I'm really unsure!

Re: MEETING OF THE WATERS -- 5 rejections means revision time!
What you have detected is ultimately one of the flaws of the novel that I'm trying to work out. The ending's complicated. So it's 2016. The Olympics are about to start in Rio, and Jaime goes to Brazil to find his ex-girlfriend Afi, who programmed for the game that he and Alessandra play: pirates vs...

Re: TRINITY, an urban fantasy query
I agree that the tone seems to take a hard left turn halfway through the query. It's hard to go from quirky cappuccinos to potential genocide without some cognitive dissonance. Also, this isn't fair, but I'm personally biased against cat people. Maybe it was too much anime as a teenager, or Avatar,...

Re: TRINITY, an urban fantasy query
No, they're very much there (in fact their collapse is the center element of the main plot arc) but it worked against me in the query. Too many agents jumped to the conclusion that my novel would be about the stupid 2012 prophecies (the agent who requested the partial did say he thought this is what...

Re: A life in Death - YA Fantasy
Hello Heather! Thanks for sharing your query! Here's my take on it. Dear … Magical creatures known as deathlings inhabit the earth; and humans, fearful of their powers and their close link with Death are left with one option for a normal life: eradicate them. It doesn’t matter that deathlings were h...
