Re: Censorship on the iPad and iPhone

Has anyone actually verified this and seen if the text is actually censored or if it's just the 'fit for public consumption' description the article shows.

And what would that mean for those who read and/or write erotica?

Writing, for me, is a means to an end.

Re: Which email provider do you send queries from?

I'm assuming you used MS Word as it contains hidden format instructions in each document.

Just paste your except into Notepad (or any plain text editor) first and it will remove all the extraneous formatting. Then you won't have extra lines or weird formatting in your email.

Re: What Brings You to the Keyboard?

Is your writing mostly for external or internal affirmation? If you are reading (or writing) this, you have the audacity and possibly the arrogance to believe that someone wants to hear what you have to say. In fact, we writers go beyond the boldness of the message and believe that others may find ...

Re: Qualified to Write???

I only started writing fiction five years ago. Other than that, I was in the typical classes with the usual areas of study while in school, but I don’t feel any lesser for it. Nor have I ever had anyone tell me that I need to go to school and learn more. But I made it a point, once I began writing, ...

Re: The Process

I don't know that I actually have a specific "process", but I do know that I write best when I really know about the scene I'm going to write. By which I mean I have to percolate each scene beforehand in my head, and know how it's going to go down and who's involved etc. If I don't do this...

Re: How do you know when you're ready?

So, how do you know when you're ready? That’s a tough one and one that each person will probably answer differently. As for me, I know I’m not ready yet. One thing I often do is read excerpts of newly published books and popular books in my genre. And contest winners sometimes. There’s just a qualit...

Re: Music or quiet when you write?

I love music, but when I first began writing, I needed absolute silence. I found music too distracting. Now, I listen to ambient music. It has no lyrics, which used to interfere with my thoughts, and I find it soothing. It can be kind of hypnotic, putting me into a 'writing trance'. It's gotten to t...

Re: writing advice from a bass player...

This is very good advice, and something that also applies to many areas of life. You’ll often find teachers or ‘masters’ or ‘gurus’ expressing this exact sentiment. From golfing to fighting to writing to driving to sex to almost any endeavor at which humans strive - those who make it look easy will ...

Re: Put Down That Book!

I can see a future where ebooks fill the internet on sites set up like Myspace. E-publishing will become easy - like blogs now - and everyone will feel they can do it. Then a facebook/myspace-type site will arise for the medium, where you join and fill out your preferred genre - romance, fantasy, th...

Re: A new revenue model for E-books?

Personally, I don't think it would work. (As evidenced by the above posts.) People are just too inured to advertising. They'll gloss over it. And if you make it too intrusive to get over that obstacle, they'll do whatever they can to get around it. It's just the way we are. Advertising is a necessar...

Intriguing question.

And one, I confess, I never gave much thought to. Until now.

I'd have to say bears. They have a certain majesty to them that can neither be denied nor ignored.

Re: Should you share your writing before it's finished?

I think it depends on the individual writer. Some writers like the accountability and having someone waiting for each piece spurs them on to keep writing, which can be very helpful. And some people can use the instant feedback to help them avoid painful rewrites later on. But some writers don’t like...

Re: Can you read while you write?

I had this problem when I first began writing, but don't really suffer from it now. As a matter of fact, there are certain books that motivate me. When I feel like I can't write, I read a chapter or a few pages and they make me feel like getting back in the ring again. I think maybe the feeling they...
