Printing a novel draft with Lulu?
Hi Nathan, I haven't been on the forums in a while but I hope I can get help with this question I have. It's so great to have somewhere to ask and somebody to turn to. So. I want to print an altered version of my novel for my Grandparents. Having searched around I found the website http://www.lulu.c...

Re: Is present tense ever okay?
I'm no expert, let me just declare that right now. However , from experience I think you need to work out if it's ok for you specficially i.e. does it suit your writing style? does it help the story? can you make it read well? There are lots of books out there written in present tense and written ve...

Re: What do you "do"?
Wow! You guys all have such cool jobs! *sighs* I'm going to go ahead and try to make my "job" sound spectacular now too (thank-you-don't-mind-if-I-do) So: I'm a psychology undergraduate. I spend my time being told and reading about what makes people tick. My fellow classmates and I have br...

Re: Favorite drink while writing (or procrastinating)?
I'm with you gonzo, I was coming in to say a nice steaming mug of English Breakfast, Green Ginger, or Mandarin Orange Spice (those are TEAS for you uncultured people out there :-P ). Tea all the way! Drinking makes for really fun writing but not so brilliant reading in my case so I stick with the T...

Re: So do you have any foes on this site?
As for "foe-ing" I'm pretty sure the foe would not know you have set them on ignore. That could get pretty awkward if they do know though.... I mean, I feel like foe-ing somebody is similar to slapping them in the face with a glove and thus entering into a challenge. If did find anyone to...

Re: Novel Length
From what I've heard and read, Shadow is right. Sadly, a lot of agents will have difficutly considering a YA novel of that length ---> even Meyer admitted she was very lucky to have her debut novel accepted at above 120 000 words. That doesn't mean you shouldn't write something longer than expected ...

Oh, it's ok. I muddled through and chose the teams that sounded the *prettiest*... Some info on the basic concept of this game would still be much appreciated though :~)

Re: March Madness!!!
OMG, whilst I have the intention of joining in I have been truly stumped, for the moment, by the bracket ESPN page.... Forgive me, I'm British and kind of a technophob, but what am I picking? Like all of the results for all of the games this tournament? Gosh, this could take a while. Hmmm, help woul...

Re: Favorite Lines from Novels
All of my favourite lines come from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels! Let's just say that if complete and utter chaos was lightning, he'd be the sort to stand on a hilltop in a thunderstorm wearing wet copper armour and shouting 'All gods are bastards' - The Color of Magic LOL, those novels conta...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!
Hurley is the greatest! Also, Claire really needs a brush. Lol, I totally agree. That was, in fact, one of the first things that ran through my mind when I saw Claire this week - in all that time she couldn't find something to pass through her hair? But then again, I think it does add to her gone-m...

Re: How old are you?
I'm 19 and started writing when I was 3 (on the walls, does that count?). I wrote my first complete little novel when I was 13 (an odd tale somewhere between Nanria meets LOTR meets Discworld). I won't lie to you, that first story makes me cringe to think about (I seem to remember burning it in a fi...

You keep finding random pens in your bag for no apparent reason, and then realise you put them all there in case there was an *emergency*(perhaps of an apocalyptic nature) and a lot of people needed stationary in a hurry
Anyone?

Re: Monkeys vs. Bears
Ahhhhh, but they never blame the freakish paranormal attacks on Monkeys do they? It's always a Bear attack that turns out to be something seriously more sinister.. On that note, I think I'll have to shake my head and say that probably Monkeys are better. You've got to be cunning to maintain that kin...

Re: TWILIGHT - thoughts?
..but people forget that these books are primarily aimed at the tween/young teen set, and that not every teenager is capable of reading at a Brave New World level ... I am completely, 100 percent with you, on that. I hate it when people criticise the reading level of the books specifically, because...
