What is your least favorite thing about this time of year?

Because that novel isn't going to delay itself

It is despairingly expensive. It is not so bad in western Mass, but I still cry the first of every month. It is really pretty up here though!
I LOVE Massachusetts! I wish I could still be living there. I just couldn't afford it and go back to school. I lived in Revere, just outside Boston, but I traveled all over the area.

I cried every month too. I had two roommates, three at one point, and our apartment was $3500 a month.

HOLY HAND GRENADES!

I used to live in Andover, which was a little farther north than Revere. I miss being so close to the beach. I live for the beach. And the mountains.

oh yeah I recall that area! I lived right near Wonderland station in Revere. Loved it there! Too bad it was so expensive. I loved the subway and I worked downtown by South station and I lived for this great chinese restaurant near Saugus. I think that's how you spell it? It's been since 2002 so my memory is a little foggy.

You'd like California's San Joaquin Valley, then. Between late June and late September we rarely have a day under 100, with nights in the 80s. One July a few years ago, we had something like three straight weeks at 105-112 and three more weeks hovering in the 103-108 range. I h.a.t.e. it.

I'd suggest a house swap, but I don't want your freezing temps, either. Something west coast-ish might be nice. Cambria is a nice little place. Not the most exciting for socializing, but might be a good place to get some writing done. Hmmm... I wonder if I can find a dog-friendly hotel in the area...
Sounds good, except there ain't no Southernahs in Cally. Maybe I'll move to LA. :}

We get years like that - I love it except that when it gets that hot for that long it doesn't rain. Most summers the temp stays above 90 and will rarely dip below 80 at night - glorious!

Oh, but that would work in your favor. People around here are crazy about accents. Women titter and swoon, and men become more friendly and strike up a conversation about where you're from. My ex-husband - a Welsh transplant - works to keep his accent. It has served him well.

Of course that...like...assumes you could...like, ya know...tolerate a central Cali accent. It's a cross between standard Hollywood and Louisiana. I kid you not. Poor rural beach bunny. The Beverly Hillbillies about three generations later.

Oh dear. No one told you. I've slated Boston for demolition after I take over the world. There's this guy there. But I'm not bitter. :P

The short days are a big drag for me too. I keep trying to remind myself that the days will keep getting longer until near the end of June (kinda like blowin' sunshine up my own backside). :}

Taking down all the Christmas decorations. Makes the house look so plain in comparison to the holiday glory. *sigh*

Dealing with the extra weight after mad holiday eating. And with no prospect for exercise (due to cold weather and seasonal work slowdown) in the near future. Only this year I didn't eat as much and do have work, so yeah, I'm talking usually.

However, things I like:

Work slowdown :)
Long cozy nights and sleeping in
Extra time for writing! Though not this winter so far :(
Football playoffs!

Hey Sommer, Portland and Seattle are for sure not as snowy as the midwest, but your outside restaurant talks are likely to get you soaked, as it rains almost continuously there all winter.

It gets far too cold for hours of mindless walking around town. I need to come back after 20-30 minutes now.

Oh, and by the time March rolls around, I'll be tired of shovelling the snow. For now I'm still good, though. Mindless tasks = good for my stories.
