Game of Thrones (or, what am I going to do for 9 months?)
Game of Thrones (or, what am I going to do for 9 months?)
So the second season of Games of Thrones has ended and I'm feeling a bit of a loss. I hate to think of waiting 9 months to find out what happens to Jon Snow and the night watch and if terrible Joffrey will get his comeuppance.
Have any of you read the books? I'm trying to decide if I should stay with watching the show without having read the books and the pure experience that gives me, or reading the damn books and getting my fix at the risk of tainting my television watching.

Well, one thing that may help you decide is the book series is not complete yet. So, whichever way you go, you're still going to be left hanging.
Good luck with whatever you decide!

Start watching True Blood (Do it from the beginning, but realize 2 things. Tara is annoying, and so is season 2).

But I've already watched True Blood. And will continue to watch, despite feeling some ambivalence about it. Poor Sookie, she can't get a days rest!
I've pretty much watched anything of note. Currently on the BBC's Sherlock. Can't wait for Breaking Bad, which is brilliant.

The TV show does take a few deviations from the books, so there still will be a few surprises on both formats if you decide to read the books. They're not as drastic as True Blood though (which I won't even watch anymore).

My wife reads the books for True Blood. I watch because of Jessica.

I've never seen the Game of Thrones TV series, but I'm totally obsessed with the books. I'm on the third one right now. I don't think I could stomach watching all the stuff play out on TV (heads on stakes, etc.). But I highly recommend the novels.

I'm doing a marathon: starting twenty weeks before the season three premier, every Sunday at nine, I re-watch an episode. Not quite as exciting as watching it the first time, of course, but it's better than nothing. Finishing season one this weekend =)

We are getting closer, Mockingbird!
I should just read the books already, though.
Go Jon Snow!
