Bengal kitten pictures!

Post by FK7 » July 12th, 2010, 11:52 pm

Tonight at 7:15PM, our F7 marbled Bengal began the delivery of quadruplets.

It was the first animal birth I witnessed and I dare say I prefer human deliveries...

In any case, all four babies are kicking and alive, but the mom is definitely exhausted from all the work. Considering she's a F7 Bengal and she is extremely wild, I wasn't sure if the maternal instincts would be prevalent, but they were. After she seemed to understand it was a baby coming out of her vagina she became a mom really quickly in her behavior. From what I could tell we have two males and two females. Two are spotted with tawny yellow coats, two are marbled like their mother. One of the spotted might be a snow, not sure yet (the father is a marbled snow Bengal).

This is the end of my little reality capsule, back to query work :D

What a beautiful cat! The kittens are adorable. So cute.

Yes, human births are easier because we have things like hospitals, sedatives and pain killers. I've always thought, though, that female cats were dealt a hard hand. But maybe the kittens make up for it. Sooooo cute!

I agree! Such pretty little kitties.

The worst part about it though, is when it comes time to give them away. My cat wandered around the house meowing for them for days :(

You're not suppose to give any kittens away before 10-12 weeks... and after three months, I'm 100% sure Maya will be fed up with them. It'll be harder for us I reckon ;)

I had the idea to document their growth from birth to kitten stage. I won't be posting every day (promised) but some of these are too cute not to share.

You just broke my Cute-O-Meter. Now I want to touch them.

Good luck with that! My brother came over to look at the cute kittens... Maya loves my brother. The second he came close to her and the babies she almost DEFACED him. I had never seen such killer instincts in a small animal in my life.

Maya usually stays with them 24/7, unless I'm there. She lets me close whenever I want. She even takes advantage of my presence and leaves to go for a litter break, drink some water or eat. Kind of like "Ok, you're there, look after my kittens while I take a break." So I was totally surprised when one of her favorite people in the universe arrived and she just went batshit crazy.

It's kind of wonderful that all it takes is a 10s quickie and two months for a cat to produce kittens... from a biological POV anyway! :D The SECOND that head came out her behavior completely changed. I mean, how does she know to cut the umbilical cord? It's just embedded in their DNA... that's just crazy.

Haha, okay, I'll keep far away (will all the way up to Canada be enough, you think?) and I'll live vicariously through your pictures.
