Weirdest traffic so far just came today from pingywebedition.com. My blog was on a list of "some blogs you might want to visit while waiting". Interesting...

Okay, there is something strange going on between me and Russia. I get a lot of blog traffic from a Russian website that (from the photos on the site) appears to have nothing to do with writing or urban fantasy. I write it off as a spammy sorta thingy I will never understand. However, I also get a fair amount of traffic from google.ru. And the only foreign-language review I have ever found of any of my writing was in...Russian.

[sideways head thing dogs do when they're confused]

Not that I'm complaining that I might have Russian readers who like my stories or Russian writers who like my blog. But... Huh... Wha...?

Hmm, I wonder if this will make it easier to get a Russian publisher interested in foreign rights? [bats her lashes flirtatiously at Russia] Probably not, but I can dream. :)

Is the site remroom.ru? I get a lot of views from there. It looks like some sort of housing site. Oh, if only I spoke Russian, or they had a language button...

stephmcgee wrote:LOL Margo. That just makes me think of this game I played on my computer back when I still had a PC. It was a fantasy RPG that had a group of militant squirrels. They were my favorite part of the first two games in the series.

For you, and all the others I have promised to spare, to celebrate a Friday morning:
Foamy the Squirrel Lyrics:

And so I'm a squirrel
And you're not
How pathetic you are
So I'm a squirrel
And you're not
You're just human
How pathetic you are
You don't have a fluffy tail
You don't have Squirrelly Wrath
You just build to destroy
While I collect some nuts
And you all suck

**Notes : Some social commentary about how humans suck and blow up crap while squirrels just run
around and collect nuts. Life is easy when all you need is nuts. Unless you count the great acorn
famine of 2008. Rough times for squirrels. Rough times.

I urge everyone to check out Foamy at http://illwillpress.com/. Show the angry squirrel some love.

I think it is. Why is a Russian site that appears to have nothing to do with writing directing people to English-language writing blogs? I don't even see links that might be responsible for the traffic. How does that work?

Yep, I just checked. I was getting traffic from them up until a month or so ago. Now it's another site. I haven't looked to see what that one is about.

And what's the connection, if any, to the google.ru searches I keep getting? People are actually viewing the pages rather than just the search result. I confused.

Oh, I also got traffic from that pingweb thingy. I do not comprehend the awesome and mysterious workings of the internets.

About a week ago, one of my older posts got hit by 13 Finns within a minute. Then, a couple days later, it happened again. Same post. Same number of Finns. *shifty eyes*

I also used to see that Russian site in my stats. Don't recall seeing it recently.

Finns? I haven't had Finns yet. I get swarmed by Japanese occasionally. Yesterday it was the French.

I'll trade you 2 Japanese and 5 Frenchmen for 7 Finns, as long as they're in mint condition, NIB.

Can't guarantee their condition. You'll have to take them sight unseen, but I'll throw in a couple of South Americans if you'd like. I've got Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, and an occasional Bolivian.

(Also, congratulations on ONE THOUSAND POSTS, Margo)

Ummm, yeah, you probably ought to be wagging a finger at me about that, huh? How many chapters could I have written in the time it took to post 1000 times? Er, 1001 times. Ewww, gosh, in less than a year. Wow.

[Edit: Oh crap. I just realized that, except for polymath at about 50 posts behind me, the only other forumite with more than 1000 posts...is Nathan.] *facepalm*

That's hilarious. I'm going to venture ahead and say you contribute to the discussions around. :P

Also, I'm kind of disappointed I don't get traffic from weird places. Well, not in masses anyway.

Okay I have to share the strangest search I've gotten so far. Mind you, my WIP is urban fantasy mixed with Norse mythology. Today, someone found my writing blog while googling "odin wolf porn".

Well...that's a niche market if there ever was one.

Here's the thing - I was boppin' around Beale Street last week, and for the first time in I don't know how long, I stopped to listen to one of the street musicians. Jake Lear, is his name, and he plays the Blues. I bought his CDs and asked if it would be cool to upload some of it to my blog. Of course, he encouraged me to do so. Here's the question - is there a gadget I should use to upload audio files from my hard drive?
