What are you reading now?

I’m reading The Invisible Hook: The Hidden Economics of Pirates by Peter T. Leeson.

The book examines the economic aspects of the Golden Age of Piracy, from 1670 to 1725. Fascinating!

"How not to Write a Novel: 200 Classic Mistakes and How to Avoid Them--A Misstep-by-Misstep Guide" by Mittelmark and Newman.

One of the most hilarious things I have ever read. It would even be funny to people with no interest in writing.

I received a set of ya fantasy novels as a gift, and I'm working my way through them. They're by Percy Jackson, and they are about a young boy who is part God. The first one is called the Lightening Thief.

They're cute, light-hearted and a quick, easy read.

I don't know if he has written other books but I don't see how you could possibly top the whole death as a narrator thing.

I just started reading DREAMING IN CUBAN, by Cristina Garcia.

If you like THE BOOK THIEF, check out Zusak's I AM THE MESSENGER. It came out a few years before THE BOOK THIEF, and it's quite different from that book, but I love it almost as much.

A Place of Execution by Val McDermid.
Caught the ITV adaptation on PBS last month and loved it. Once I found out it was adapted from a book and not an original drama I was practically running out my front door to pick up the book. Not at all sorry I did so. So far, one of the best books I've read this year, presently tied only with Robert Harris' The Ghost, and it's looking like it will surpass that one soon enough.

'Self-Editing for Fiction Writers' by Renni Browne and Dave King
i've learned alot from it so far.

For fiction, i'm going to re-read 'Jhereg' and the Taltos series by Steven Brust in anticipation of the new book coming out early next year.

THE WALKAWAY - Scott Phillips

It's a follow-up (kinda) to THE ICE HARVEST, a great movie and an even better book.
